I do not eat much meat anymore.
Yesterday, I bought lamb chops and a lamb backstrap. Usually I buy a smallish porterhouse or TBone and that is my meat for the week bar some prosciutto or pancetta or salami.
Good for my wallet, good for my health as are my walks with the dog. Socks, being a 30Kg beast requires L O O O N G walks. Plenty Vit D.
My dinner tonight—the other half of the potato–spinach–egg–cheese casserole I made last night.
I have jars full of dried beans, split peas and puy and red lentils. Might make Boston baked beans some time and would like another go at the TexMex bean chili.
Another dog meet Saturday. Wish I could bring something warm from home—all they supply is a snag on white bread
will see if I can buy a thermos.
To overcome the hassle of the overnight soak and the one hour of cooking—cook a heap and fill into jars and preserve in a pressure canner. Be doing that when the days are too cold/wet to be outside.
Works for cannellini beans too and I dare say haricot beans.
Calculate the quantity for 250ml jars—nice quantity for salads. Use some litre jars for bulk recipes, etc.
