(notice that it's still 'gay marriage' and not just 'marriage' - even discussion within family of my niece's gay marriage is based on the knowledge of difference - sort of half the real thing.. not to be taken seriously.... then there's the pub vote) ...

No. You would have to be pretty naive not to be able to read between the lines. Even the most casual viewer would see the strange nature of Stan's message. It is a real jumbled up and peculiar way of saying something. This, which gives rise to the idea that it is a hidden threat.

You are missing the issue here. I am saying that Mr Grant has made a coded message to his enemies. Stan Grant is being professional about his message, in a way that the casual viewer will see it as a dignified goodbye message. But, if you read between the lines, you can see that it is a rallying cry. Maybe Stan has considerable reason to be making such a message. I don't know him or his circumstances. However, if the abuse to him and his family is serious, I think it is well planned by Stan to keep himself restrained in that way. Even the type of leaning in his chair showed that Stan was indicating that the message goes passed the general audience and at a targeted listener.
