As most respondents here appear to have very little concept of Stan Grant's background (other than he's an Aboriginal, and therefore a legitimate target for racial abuse) I've posted his LinkedIn résumé below.
"In a 30 year career in journalism. I have anchored major programs in Australia and internationally. I have reported from more than 60 countries covering the major events of the last two decades: war in Iraq and Afghanistan, international terrorism, the Israeli- Palestinian conflict, the Pakistan earthquake, 2005 tsunami, Japan quake, tsunami and nuclear crisis, the end of apartheid in South Africa and release of Nelson Mandela, the Northern Ireland troubles and ceasefire, the death of princess Diana, the hand over of Hong Kong, a decade covering the rise of china and inside the closed world of North Korea.
I have won numerous awards including three Walkley awards, two Peabody awards , Alfred I DuPont award, four Asia TV awards, an Australian TV logie award, GQ Magazine agenda setter of the year, International Indigenous trailblazer award, two Australian Academy of Cinema Television Awards, Australian Screen Producers Award, Australian Heritage Literature Award, Association of International Sports Journalists award.
I was previously senior international correspondent for CNN based in Beijing, Asia, Middle East, international editor for Sky News Australia, Managing Editor National Indigenous Television, Chief Asia Correspondent Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and Professor of Global Affairs Griffith University.
I have published four critically acclaimed and best selling books on identity and Australian Indigenous history. My focus of research and writing is around questions of identity, belonging, nationhood. My specialty is geo-politics, political philosophy, and race studies."
