Up until a decade or so ago he never mentioned his Aboriginality.
Not so. His Aboriginality was acknowledged when he was working
as an international reporter in 1997.
Twenty six years ago.

He's had a great career - what has that got to do with his Aboriginality?
Well, if you have to ask that question, then you're obviously unaware
that Grant was probably the very first Aboriginal person
to make any impact upon—until then—a very white, Anglo media
industry. He was a ground-breaker.

Why is it racist to criticise an individual for the choices they make?
Disingenuous much? It was not
primarily Grant's decision to leave
the ABC. It was effectively forced upon him under a torrent of
offensive, abusive comments across the media and across the
interwebs. With 99% of them being based on racism and fear of
"the other".

This is a classic example of offensive, ignorant, bigoted racism—
even if you don't recognise it in your own comments here.

Oh please! Not this tired old rubbish! You're obviously one of the
older white Australians that refuse to accept that the English settlers
brutalised, raped and killed Aborigines as a matter of course. Naturally,
Grant and his indigenous peers will tend to be anti-monarchist.
You need to accept that simple concept as fact.
And as for Grant's career, he's got where he is by sheer hard work and
perseverance in the face of racial obstacles, and determination.
Nobody handed him any of his successes on a platter; he simply took
advantage of the educational system available to any other non-
indigenous person.
