He also hasn't ruled out pardoning......Trump. Source: Quote:Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Thursday said he would “aggressively” use presidential pardons to free people who’ve been charged or convicted of crimes – including former President Donald Trump. Speaking during an interview with hosts Buck Sexton and Clay Travis, Mr DeSantis claimed that the Department of Justice has beenaws. “What I’m going to do is ... on day one, I will have folks that will get together and look at all these cases, who people are victims of weaponisation or political targeting, and we will be aggressive at issuing pardons,” he said....... The Pardoning Power of the President is based on Article II, Section 2, Clause 1 of the U.S. Constitution, so that's the prerogative of the President of the United States via powers granted the President under Law....The United States Constitution. The only criteria is that the alleged offenses must be against the United States.....Federal Crimes. Yes this is correct and it was never a problem till there was a criminal president. Remember the clambering from the Republicans when a dem president (Clinton) pardoned a white collar criminal. Trump pardoned piles of them. likely for profit. Now they want to pardon insurrectionists. Anyone remember when the Republicans pretended to be the party of Law and Order ? (long gone). Well DuckBoy, if you, or Matty, or Gweggy, or Smitty, or anyone else for that matter doesn't care for the powers the US Constitution gives to the President of the United States of America, then you should take it up with the American People to amend their Constitution, for failing that any President of the United States will continue to have Pardoning Power.......as they have for 230+ years.
Power to use it on virtually anyone they please... popular or not. https://imgur.com/0SEVRrv.gif https://imgur.com/tcXrxxg.gif God Bless The United States Constitution .....
https://imgur.com/hTXKL8Q.gif It was the Republicans who were complaining about it in Clinton's day. Maybe have a word to them about it. It is possible that a number of Trump pardons could be struck down if they are tried to be used. Once a Presidential Pardon is exercised & accepted by the person pardoned, it can not be reversed. Not even the US Supreme Court, nor the Congress of the United States, has the power to reverse or revoke such an executed Presidential Pardon.
If you think so, then please provide the legal instrument, including it's Constitutional Source & process, that would accomplish a Presidential Pardon being revoked or reversed after it has been accepted.
To date no Presidential Pardon, properly exercised & accepted by the person pardoned, has ever been revoked or reversed. Quote:Once a Presidential Pardon is exercised & accepted by the person pardoned, it can not be reversed. This is true. However apparently Trump offered and likely delivered preemptive Pardons (blanket Pardons). These pardons have not been exercised. An example could be that a Trump Cronie who conspired with trump in Trump's insurrection. If charged he / she could pull out their pardon, A court could rule it a corrupt pardon and revoke it or the current President could revoke it. There have been 2 pardons revoked. Quote:In 1869, we are told by the Congressional Research Service, ‘after outgoing President Andrew Johnson issued but did not deliver a pardon, incoming President Ulysses S. Grant revoked the pardon, and a federal court upheld the revocation’. This means that President Biden could revoke any Trump pardon that has not been executed in Trump's term. Quote: More recently, in 2008 President George W. Bush revoked a pardon he had himself granted, because of an outcry. Bush pardoned a Republican donor and got caught. https://davidallengreen.com/2021/01/can-a-presidential-pardon-be-revoked/
