Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Yeah, we do. White people won. Then it was up to white people to either save or ignore indigenous Australians from their own peril. The white people chose. Many indigenous people are whingeing about getting something for nothing. They are always free to live a traditional livelihood on one of the reservations that make up about 15% of Australia.

Quote:
It came about in 1963, when his mother went to police in desperation, seeking help.

She was escaping domestic violence, and took her five children with her.

Mr Sloan said his mother found accommodation for herself and her two eldest daughters with family in Shepparton, but could not bring her three younger boys with her.

She approached welfare groups, hoping they might help her with temporary accommodation for the whole family, but had no luck.

As a last resort, she asked the police.

"And as a result of that we were made wards of the state," Mr Sloan said.

So, as the result of asking for help in seeking shelter and protection, the three children were made wards of the state. What was the alternative? Living in dire poverty and homeless (with no protection). FFS, Brian. Being a 'stolen' generation does not seem all that bad, now does it?

No they weren't.  The Police sought them out and took them from their parents, Unsub.  They were usually removed from camps and homes. They broke the hearts of the parents and the kids and prevented them ever meeting again. Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Yet they complain all the time.  They were mistreated, raped and prevented from seeing their parents ever again.  The authorities could have provided them but as they were regarded as non-citizens they were treated like fauna.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

The same happened to white children made wards of the state.

And yes many of them were removed from homes because of neglect & poverty issues including not being able to support or sustain children.

Where's your empathy for them?

Were they not affected & traumatised because of what happened to them?

Why is it that it only matters if you were Aboriginal?

Piss off you sanctimonious old cockroll.

Gnads has a very good point Brian.
Are you trying to push the 'Black Dog' emotional racist blackmail on white people?
What about all the yellow people in the world and other races that have experienced the same of children taken from a neglectful parenting bordering on 'child abuse' or totally child abusive?

Being a white child, removed to become "wards of the state" was very different compared to an Indigenous child who suffered the same fate.  The Indigenous children were denied any contact with their families, they were denied their culture, their religion, their essence of whom they were, where as that was not denied to White kids.   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Indigenous kids were treated far worse than White kids.  Which would you have preferred to be, considering how you treat Indigenous people with your Racist attitudes.   Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Authorities took the indigenous children (with caucasian heritage) from the parents of those that could not look after their children. Full-blooded indigenous children would probably have been ignored for a long time.

Speaking as a person who has been mistreated in childhood, I do not really care about the rescued from destitution children (who were mistreated, raped, etc.) that grew up with enough resources and privileges to be able to afford the right to complain/whinge about their lot in life.

Think back to the time between 1890 and 1970, if you can. You can't? Oh, right. You have been basing your assumptions about the hard life of indigenous people on the way that they were not getting the modern conveniences we have now. And the society that the indigenous grew up in around other Australians is also the one that every Australian grew up in during that period.

Where is your proof, Troll about modern Cannibalism amongst Indigenous people?  They were stolen, as proved in court.  You are talking Racist trolling again, WOFTAM.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
