our "disease care system"  which they call our health care system is not really going to help you.

if you tell them you have difficulty walking their colution is to get you a mobility scooter or give you the forms for a disabled parking permit so you can park close to the shops.

My last resistance training walk was on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. I was still struggling by the next afternoon at work, walking around. But, I was alright on Saturday afternoon. I did a good mow of the yard yesterday. That was my exercise for the day. I feel like going for a walk tonight to try and feel stronger, before my doctor's appointment on Wednesday.

Having muscle stiffness and sore joints is part of the cost paid of having to lose weight and getting fit. That fat cells have shrunk recently and I have the annoyance of lugging around some loose skin. Oh man, when I go to get body waxed in September, the beautician is going to rip off some old skin.

well done rocky.

if you can only do 10 minutes, do that and then rest and repeat

our "disease care system"  which they call our health care system is not really going to help you.

if you tell them you have difficulty walking their colution is to get you a mobility scooter or give you the forms for a disabled parking permit so you can park close to the shops.

in fact, if they wanted to help you, they would make the disabled parking spots the furthest away so you had to do therapy and work on your fitness as you trudged to the shop. they would get rid of the lifts in nursing homes and make the residents take the stairs.

this would however reduce dependancy on the lucrative 'disease care system" so that wont be happening

How about the government providing a free transport service for such people to and from their pub of choice?

Limo? Bus? or wheelbarrow pushed by fit unemployed people?

governments have no desire to see people fit and healthy.

except in china

China may be surpassing the United States in energy use and is catching up in the race for the world’s biggest economy, but there’s one superlative Beijing is trying to avoid: world’s fattest country. Starting this week, the city of Beijing has resumed mandatory daily workplace calisthenics, after a three-year break. Radio broadcast exercise regimens ...

You should take note of what Aqua said and find some stairs walking up and down them with backpack will do far more than walking around on flat ground.

When i did a year 10 high school in the US i was on the wrestling team. We ran up and down the stairs in the grandstand while the football team did laps around the oval.

High intensity training beats low intensity every time for best results. You wouldn't last 10 minutes going up and stairs with 35kg backpack.

During my 4km walk, I would climb the Yaamba Road overpass whilst I am wearing my 35kg weighted backpack. It is difficult to do that. If I walked up and down the stairs with the backpack, I probably would be buggered after 10 minutes. 10 minutes after I walk down the other side of the overpass, I am usually resting up the road at a bus stop -- having a drink and a rest for 10 minutes, at least.

At the moment, I might not be able to run a 4 minute kilometre. But, give it a month and I will probably be fit enough to jog 4km (without the backpack, obviously) in about 20 minutes. Resistance training walks are good enough to build up muscle and burn off excess fat cells. When the weather starts warming up again in August, you can find me doing those jogs.

Try just walking up and down the overpass forget the 4km the intensity is too low.

Reduce the weight shorter high intensity workouts do far more than longer low intensity.

When your legs start burning that lactic acid buildup muscles are deprived of oxygen thats good. Push through it for a bit.

If your legs are sore the next day massage them to break up lactic acid then go do it again.

My sports science teacher Dr Terry Ly was built like Bolo from Bruce Lee movie Enter the Dragon. He did very little he said once you feel the burn you have used up all the muscle has no point in doing any more.

I do 5km park run i usually just break into top 10 it takes around 18 minutes.

Yeah, he hasn't been here for a week.

He must have it pretty bad.

Anyone know if he was vaxxed or not?

If I recall correctly… he did mention he had to be for certain work he was doing that required it.

Yes - JaSin has been away for 1 week.
I hope he's OK?

Guess what?
Now - I've got a fever.
my temp was 38.3  a while ago - now it's 37.7
I've picked up something -
could be Covid or a cold or the flu.

I have no RAT tests for Covid.

RA tests, or RATS.  Not RAT tests.

What other symptoms?

Really - I was about to go out and buy a couple but I don't feel well enough.
I'll take a couple of Panadols and see how I go.

I am likely to get another 3 boxes of Rapid Antigen Tests over the winter months, included with my diabetes medication.

I got my (free) influenza vaccination, yesterday. It was the first time I have had the vaccination. Next up, I am going to have to get my covid booster. Then I am up to date with my vaccinations.

Tuesday night, just recently, I bought a bottle of olive leaf extract and a bottle of liquid blueberry. Discovering that drinking diluted olive leaf extract has helped relieve any cough that I had in previous weeks.

Better than taking Panadol.

Attending "People's Day" at the Rockhampton Agricultural Show today. I would not be surprised if this town goes heavy with influenza and/or covid in the next week.

If I concentrate on walking up and down the stairs for 10 minutes, yes, I will get a good work out. But, part of my walk is to vent all my frustrations into an outlet of exercise. One hour of walking around 4km with a 35kg weighted backpack is enough exercise.

The strain on your muscles is quite okay for a reasonably short distance. I recall doing 7.5km walks with my backpack. Once you get to the 6km mark, you are going into ketosis, since you have really expended your energy at that point. The real strain is that last 1.5km.
