For me ... losing my dad was hard BUT losing mum was and still is very painful (and much harder to cope with). 

The difference in the grief and loss I’m experiencing is what’s bugging me for some stupid reason. Is it because girls are closer to their mothers in general? Is it because I had many more years of life experience with mum because dad died when we were young whereas mum didn’t?

Perhaps we’re all closer to our mums anyway because our mum gave birth to us and looked after us from the get go. Does this mean we love both our parents but we might love our mothers just that little bit more?

What are your thoughts and/or experiences about our parents?

Does missing them so dreadfully after they’ve gone get any better over time?

Same with Uncle Fred and his wife Colleen.

When breast cancer came back despite a double mastectomy and Colleen died you could see the mainspring of his life had gone and he died not long after.
