Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Have they learned how to become part of the Ozone Layer? Or do they know how to control the weather? Perhaps they have learned how to eradicate invasive destructive species? If not, I doubt they know how to conserve the reef other than leaving it alone.

Well - I do hope they won't need the Old White Man's boats and such .... they can do it for themselves you know.... such superior beings these women and Blacks.... they know all the ways of the universe....   Grin

In a few words - That'll Be The Day!  Exactly how are they going to 'conserve the reef' that nobody knows how to do already?  Little bit of that old black magic?

ABC Truth - two thirds down the page - they are going to MONITOR the reef - not preserve it.... just a little spin doctoring there.... maybe they should turn their hands to controlling raging bush fires......

How many Indigenous women does it take to save the Reef?

None - it can't be done - but we need an entire media network to say what a wonderful job they're doing saving the reef ... the wonder is they've even got a job, even if it is a 'jobs for the Indigenous girls' job.... paid to go diving on the reef when everyone else pays for it ... better than being a breeding cow for some layabout lolly-gagging in the warm sun..... breeding kids to join the Criminal Run in Townsville etc....

No, you don't have to go to university to learn how to snorkel, scuba dive, drive boats, take underwater pictures. But, you may need to open up a few textbooks to learn the names of various marine species and types of corals. And perhaps if you wanted to prevent the decay of reef and associated marine life, you might want to learn general marine microbiology and have some idea of climatology and the impact of chemical pollution on waterways.

I mean, it is great that these women have a common interest and have made a common bond with each other. But, it would take more than monitoring the reefs to do much about conserving them.

My sardonic earlier post does not seem that inappropriate, now.

Well - my view is this - it's all well and good to put them on the payroll etc and teach/let them learn some good things like preserving the reef etc... but there is clearly, from this entire story and their own comments - no 'sacred lore' about how they will magically save the reef etc... so if they are serious they should really go to a course and get qualifications and learn all the ins and outs.....  otherwise it's just money for being black jam.... make-work for one demographic, while others have to build a HECS bill to even get a foot into something they might love...........

Bet the salaries are something to behold..... and with nothing special to bring to the table.... any more than women bring more to the table in politics and business - other than adding to the disasters and the selfishness and  the abuse of others and the sociopathic approach to issues that enable them to cut people in two and impale them socially to get their way..... schoolgirl politics at their very worst.....

Now then - about that 'Indigenous management of the bush to cut back on fires' - tell me more - how's the shaman going out there holding back the flames?  All those massive burn-offs annually that used to choke me near to death didn't manage the same thing?  Of course!  White Man's burn-offs are different!!  No magic in them!!!

Now then - about this interference in WA farmers using their bought and paid for land...............................................

Their elders past wouldn't have even knew about the reef.
Maybe further north but there is no way an abo would have paddled a piece of bark out to say, the bunker group, or the swains.
Can't wait for the day they try to rename the great barrier reef.  Grin

Kgari is a load of crap.
I know plenty of aboriginies up that way that are laughing at Palachook, and they will still call it Fraser Island.  Grin

You accept the babies are raped and murdered - and are happy with that

You just do not accept they "go into the pot" as has been observed many times

You have a problem with reality

Yep K'gari(with a silent k) pronounced 'gurree'

they reckon it translates to "paradise"  Roll Eyes

FFS what bollocks....they wouldn't have had any concept of paradise.

But the Butchulla bullshyte is full on here now... the number of tan Stans & sunbed Sallies here now claiming to be Butchulla is growing daily.

Even granted title over land that never belonged to them.... & are causing trouble blocking access to the beach in the tourist town of Burrum Heads.

Because he's simply not an Aboriginal ... he's of European descent.
