Russian land-mines are densely packed in Ukraine, two layers deep in some areas. However, a deficiency of zinc, manganese, and copper in some agricultural soils (Rivne and Volyn regions) is not improved by mines which have little metal, to avoid detection.

The Biden administration has come in for a lot of criticism over weapons. Either too many, or not enough. But I think their measured response to the Russian invasion has been quite sensible. If they had sent in ATACMS, F16s, Cluster ammunition, Himars, and Abrams in the beginning of the war, it could have complicated alliances and responses. As it is, Putin has to endure the anxiety of what is next.

Another interesting point is how Zelensky's UN address was expected to be answered by a huge Russian attack. Instead, Ukraine bombed the sh!t out of Russian Crimea.

Their supply highways are now just within HIMARS range and technically Ukraine has Crimea within a blockade (almost). China and NKorea are sending trainloads of gabble talk and no sedatives for little Vlad.

Well the amount of Conscripts - citizens with no real military bearing beyond a few weeks training n' marching would have escalated the body count up. All those poor drafted 'slaves' for the Military industry - thrown into the 'expendable' front lines for the more Regular and Seasoned Soldiers. Only to be mowed down or blown to bits. I've seen clips where the Russian conscripts are poorly equipped and wearing 'sneakers' of all things.
If they were smart, they would surrender. At least they void themselves from War. Saw a clip where Conscripts were fleeing the action and getting shot by Russian officers.

America and other nations would do the same.
Australia wouldn't hesitate in 'enslaving' citizens to die for their Medals.

The Putin supporters on this forum should know that he hasn't just destroyed the Russian economy, and killed tens of thousands of Russians, he has also expanded NATO. But now, he is releasing dangerous convicted criminals as returned heroes. This will tear at the fabric of Russian society. This video shows what is happening. Those who admire fascist policy can rest ashored, its from Sky News.

NATO was not going to invade Russia, Ukraine or not. Now, because of Putin, it is even closer to Moscow. It is evident he does not care about the consequenced for Russia. He is a Soviet dictator. A couple of realities. Putin/Russia have a choice. Ukraine does not have that luxury. Catching Ukraine while poorly armed gave Russia a brief opportunity to use those old fashioned field maneuvres.

War is revolution. The Russian navy is being humiliated with cheap little weapons. You better believe the US navy is paying serious attention, and the US is blessing Russia for so many opportunities to test and watch.

The world's second most powerful airforce reduced to protecting their planes with worn out car tires.

It looks to me like Russia will have to sue for peace, because Crimea will become untenable for anything other than infantry. So they would be better off trying to hold Crimea even if it means giving the rest of Ukraine back.

It seems the Abrams are weak against artillery and helicopters. They need Humvees to protect them against manpats. The advances come when men crawl along poking in the dirt for mines. They use sticks. They watch for Russians using stone axes. Or throwing rocks.
