The Russian president’s micromanagement of the war, down to determining the movement of forces, is believed to be contributing to the military’s failure to capture cities in the Donbas, according to the Guardian newspaper. “If Putin is doing the job of a brigade commander… he could be delving into a force that could be as small as 700 to 1,000 soldiers,” The Times quoted. Russia has lost five times more military equipment than Ukraine in its week-long assault on Avdiivka. The British defence ministry's daily intelligence assessment said Russia’s push for Avdiivka — “the most significant offensive operation” since January — was marred by heavy equipment and personnel losses'.

'Ukraine fears a drone shortage due to China’s move to place restrictions on exports, the BBC reports. The war in Ukraine is the first armed conflict to see such extensive use of drones, which are used by both sides. Many of them are commercially made in China and bought off the shelf, and new supplies are vital because of the large numbers lost in the fighting.'

A drone spokes-cyberman, using AI, told Reuters that the drones are depressed, shell-shocked and have low morale. Most have close relatives on the enemy side, with some being suicide drones.
