Dan Andrews agrees covid is a nothing burger
Jun 18th, 2023 at 6:50pm

The Andrews government has slashed future funding for one of its most significant pandemic-era reforms: the local public health units established at the height of the COVID-19 crisis to rebuild the state’s public health capacity and defence against infectious disease.

There will be deep cuts that will reduce funding for the nine metropolitan and regional units by 40 per cent over the next two years.

Government funding for the units will shrink from about $80 million this financial year to $55 million in 2023-24 and further reduce to $47 million in 2024-25. On July 1, as Victoria enters its peak season for flu and other respiratory viruses, dozens of public health officers will be out of a job.

This comes as local public health units take on more responsibility for managing outbreaks of communicable disease across the state.

well done premier andrews.

Hope your hero Dr. John "Mr. Science" Gerrard doesn't find out about this.

He'd be so upset that he isn't getting your full attention anymore.

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

And... here's "Personal Responsibility" again.

Grin Grin Grin

That's the new name given to "Public Health" by our neoliberal governments (of both major parties) these days.

Yeah, I see lots of "personal responsibility" on display nearly every time I go shopping with maskless people coughing and sneezing all over the place.

Some not even bothering to cover their coughs and sneezes with their hands or elbows (not that it would make a great deal of difference regarding spreading whatever they've got anyway).

Hey, Bobby.

You'll be glad to know that it looks like Dan Andrews might be staying on as Victorian Premier after all.

Rumours started late last week that he might be stepping down.

'Business as usual' for Victorian Premier Dan Andrews amid reports about his future

Quote:
The Victorian government has today quashed reports Premier Daniel Andrews is close to stepping down from the role.
The state government was insisting it's business as usual after News Corp reported the veteran Labor premier was close to quitting and Deputy Premier Jacinta Allan was being lined up to take over.

Mind you, knowing politics and politicians I wouldn't take that as 'gospel'. We've seen this happen with other pollies over the years... "No, the rumours are false, I'm staying on". Next minute - BAM! They're gone.

Are you talking about this one?

A single COVID-19 pandemic or multiple SARS pandemics?

Dastardly Dan has already spent a decade STARVING Vic Health. Vic ambulance services are already virtually non existent. As a Communist ...his care factor for his own is zero.

During the same period Andrews splashed millions in extra payments to overseas students from China. And Andrews also gave himself a massive pay rise making him the highest paid Premier in Australian history despite not having the largest state in terms of population or size.

Victorians must be seriously masochistic. They deserve the pain he gives them. I have no sympathy for tosspots.

Edit : To be fair though ... many Victorians have left their Communist state and have moved north .... in the hope of trying to find Australia I guess.

By the way, Dan's big "nothing burger" has been responsible for more deaths in Victoria than any other Australian State or Territory.

https://covidlive.com.au/

And another 113 deaths added last week in case aquascoot's forgotten already.

I strongly urge everyone to save the link provided by Carl just now.

If you click on said link you will find much more information than the attachment provided in Carl’s post.

Example : This is not what I was expecting to see 😩

Approx 4000 new cases in Victoria in the past 7 days.

Approx 7000 new cases in NSW in the past 7 days.

Oh and how is it so many more are dying in Victoria???

No one knows why.

We had the strictest lockdowns and still the highest deaths.

Here's some more of that awesome "personal responsibility", this time from Sydney.

Quote:
Had to navigate multiple ppl sneezing in my face yesterday at the shops. Usually avoid weekends. Kids, adults, all walking around sick and sneezing, coughing, w no regard for others. Can't blame them when they have received the wrong message about COVID.

Mind you, I do agree with Professor MacIntyre about people getting the wrong message about Covid but there's also this:

Yes, but still,  some basic manners don't need public announcements.

Yep. At least you'd think they wouldn't need announcements.

Good one Carl and

Raina MacIntyre 😷💉💉💉💉
@Globalbiosec

Well, pre-COVID sick ppl went to work and out in public without masks.
It is a return to that.
Cough syrup ads even encouraged ppl to "soldier on".
