All of this could have been avoided, by the Government putting a well thought out proposal to Parliament. They didn't want that. They wanted a YES vote to take decisions out of the hands of the people. They are banking on Australians not being as concerned about their rights as the Americans or the French. They will then turn around and tell you we need a Republic to "improve" our democracy.
