Well, if the Voice to Parliament means that indigenous people will lose special privileges, then I can support that. Bring all services and payments that indigenous people get in line with the rest of the Australian community.

Btw, every time you go "tsk, tsk, tsk", it reminds me of the ending of New Order's "Blue Monday" intro.

I am not a legal expert nor an expert on "Racial" matters, I am an ordinary citizen, Unsub, just as you are. I have my opinion, just as you and Gnads do. I am pro-Indigenous people who have IMO a rough deal over the decades since settlement. One guy I knew had ticked the indigenous box on a form at the hospital. He was seen by a medical professional 5 minutes later. He basically skipped the queue that would have taken him at least a 30-minute wait.

People have ticked the box for indigenous status for job network organisations. They get prioritised employment opportunities. My job network member asked me if I identified as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. I said "no". Then I asked, "how many people that look like me identify as Aboriginal?". His response was "quite a few". Obviously, there are people ticking the box to claim aboriginal status. I have known about this problem, since that Sri Lankan guy claimed that he was aboriginal, back in the early 1990s.

I don't have to blackface myself at all. I just have to claim aboriginal status. And although I will get criticism for racial appropriation, I will also get a boost to my socioeconomic living conditions.

The referendum vote will be anywhere from September to December this year. The fierce debate will rage over the next few months. But, ultimately, this will incite people to question whether or not indigenous people are getting treated too favourably in modern Australian life. Then, the proposal will be made that we get rid of racially biased programs and keep the indigenous social and welfare programs on par with the rest of the Australians' social and welfare programs.

I can't wait for the referendum to be done. Reckon we might start saving $30 billion a year, from here onwards. The Aborigines can threaten to riot all they like -- and I hope they don't -- to try and bring special treatment of their affirmative action programs. But, I would say that it is time to give equal treatment to all Australians.

I was challenged to wear an indigenous t-shirt for a while and see how far I could get through the day. I went out shopping with the t-shirt prominently displayed. I got a few dirty looks from some people. Then I walked by a couple of indigenous people who spotted the t-shirt on a white guy. Word got around. And I was followed by a few indigenous people. One guy said that I was "brave" in a sardonic tone. But, he seemed okay with me. Never wore that shirt again and gave it back to the person who loaned me the shirt.

Dad would give me hell if I started identifying as indigenous. I have an indigenous daughter, who did identify as indigenous. But, she is nearly as white as me. Does she count as indigenous, when she has blonde hair?

Authorities won't hassle me. In fact, they might technically be required to give me a free pass.

it will not do any such thing

it will just focus on why the voice will be bad, if no succeeds then things will just continue as they always have

Does it matter? Really? It is what her ancestry is telling her that is important and of could how her compatriots are treating her. Perhaps she has bad experiences to relate to you? I know I would like to be treated the way you treat Black Fellas, now would I?
