Socks is fine. Wants to go outside for walks all the time. We have had nice weather mostly, clear to partly cloudy skies and 13–14°C days.

Gets cold at night but I leave the heater on medium overnight. Socks sleeps on a folded sleeping bag but of course in the morning that has slipped off—dogs have REM sleep too, I guess, and move at times in the night so giving them a blanket is useless.

There are two dogs not 300 metres from here sleep on the verandah of their house, no covering.

Well ... we’ve been up since 6.30 am and it was NOT too cold today (thank God). The sun is shining and at 9 am I’ll be ready to hang out my 1st load of washing.

Note : I always get stuck into my chores nice and early and I try and wash/hang out my biggest load of washing FIRST 👈 that means I can get the bulk of my washing inside to fold and/or iron earlier IN CASE the weather changes/I get caught up with other issues.

Dinner tonight is sorted. Last night before jumping into bed I took out 2 frozen chooks (I bought these on sale last week for a mid week menu option) and prepped ie marinaded them. I’ve got those in the oven side by side in a deep oven pan surrounded by boiling water plus extra virgin olive oil and covered securely with alfoil. Under that in the lower shelf and in a covered alfoil oven pan I’ve got potatoes cut up into quarters along with pumpkin pieces. I’ll boil up the peas separately and throw some fresh mint from my garden in that.

Anyway ... my point (I guess) is this : A baked dinner 👉 a warm oven 👉 a warm kitchen 👉 takes the chill out of the house ✅

I bought some citronella oil to put in my home made burners under the house. The citronella 'burner' wards off mosquitos and keeps under the house warmer a little more. But, with the weather being so dry and warm, mosquitos have not been a problem. I may have to light a burner on Friday night, just so those pesky mosquitos don't get the idea that they can invade the house before that rain comes along.

I buy 300 citronella tea lights to burn over the coldest part of the winter. Usually, I light 5 citronella tea light candles per night. But, because the weather has been so warm, there has been no need for them. I also have 100 normal long-lasting tea light candles that I use for those overnighter freezing temperatures. They last 8 hours to burn. Unless the cold comes along in the next week or so, I might be keeping them stored for next winter.
