Here is a scenario I know quite personally:

A guy gets drunk. He goes to sleep it off in the other room. A co-worker (female) decides that he is attractive enough to get his sperm for impregnation. She goes into the room, and gives the man fellatio. He lays there quite drunk, but starts to enjoy the sensation. After a few minutes of lollipopping the man, the woman decides that she is not getting anything from him. But his erection is attractive enough to have a bit of a ride.

Getting to the issue, she is using her female empowerment motivation to slide Mister "nice and clean" inside her "slippery dip". And after a few climactic sessions, she finally gets to release her 'victims' seeds into her uterus. The guy wakes up an hour later, all groggy. His ding-dong showing signs of recent ejaculation from a coupling. He wonders why his pants are unzipped. But he parts this thought to that of being rather drunk. He gets up and goes home.

10 months later, a co-worker of his announces that she has given birth to a child. She accuses the man of raping her. DNA tests confirm that the man is the biological father of the child. However, he cannot recall that he was ever in a relationship with the mother of the child. The mother however, wants to get paid for the sperm donation.

Perhaps there is something about that anecdote that speaks volumes for the scenario of Brittany Higgins. She was aware of being raped. But, she was unable to defend herself during the inebriation. And having woken up feeling that she might have been date raped, she made the error of not seeing if she was a victim of crime, by reporting to police and having a rape kit conducted.
