Prior to the myth of race, religion was the determining factor. To Europeans, the New World peoples were inferior as they were not Christian and therefore were not worthy of the rights that European Christians had.

The myth of race was more palatable by the late 18th and 19th centuries as it was posing as 'science of the enlightenment' and diverged from, by then, spurious religious claims of superiority.

OMG I was thinking about that this afternoon as I was offline. I was watering the garden and getting everything ready for tomorrow’s bbq lunch when it occurred to me that the major players pushing/spruiking the agenda are the very ones who stand to gain a lot from it. These FEW loud voices will end up being the only ones which will be heard.

I guess what I’m trying to say is this : THE VOICE is really all about a small elite group of Aboriginal people being heard at the expense of the rest ie MOST Aboriginal people WILL BE SILENCED. Oh the irony! 😳
