A discussion that needs to be had, is the brutal reality of hunter-gatherer culture as opposed to the fantasy of the noble savage living in an ecological and societal paradise.

To survive, hunter-gatherers developed cultures of extreme survivalist morality and codes of conduct.

Their lives were lived on the edge of early death due to: the inability to secure resources, the inability to breed fast enough to secure their clans'/tribes' survival, inbreeding, sustaining multiple injuries during hunting, sickness and disease.

These are societies where individuals were considered very old at 45.

Considering all that, there's little;e to wonder about why hunter-gatherer peoples' cultures are not moderate.

"Moderate"?

Is the 'right' of nations to wage war in the age of MAD - guaranted by the UNSC veto - in any way "moderate"?

The primate brain is what largely motivates humans - it's why chimp and human instinctive social/'political' behaviour are so strikingly similar - a bit closer than a lizard.
