All national parks etc are owned land - owned by the people as a whole and in use daily as national parks.... NOBODY has any right to even suggest they are 'unused non-private land' and just give them away etc.... for a government to do so is the vile imposition of despotism ....so where is Danny Boy going to get this 'land' to give to the Cheers down there? Oh Belgarion, I am not perfect. I am just as terrified at my home being given away as the terror that was felt when Aborigines were driven off their homes for 60 thousand years. I do not pretend to be able to undo the entirety of that mistake, but I do believe handing back some parts of public owned lands back to its original owners.

No different from any old Aboriginal tribe climbing the local hill and deciding they'll take this piece of good land from the current owners and then hold on to it if they could against the next mob that came along ... ti was a never-ending trading chairs thing for them ....... white settlement is just a change in skin colour and abilities... white men could HOLD the land they acquired - and now the rules have changed and there is no possibility of claiming anything for free or by threat - only by purchase.

Under Abo rules for acquiring land - still going on today with these ENFORCED land claims - whoever could grab it and hold it kept it...

Some may still have the skills to live off the land, however, its not the entirety of their livelihood. You can be assured, when the land is given, it is not to like its going to be in individualised title, like the way we own our homes. It would be in a form of lease, from the government - the land will still remain as Australian, with lease term of 99 years signed to a particular local aborigine council.
