They'd lose customers if they asked people to stand on the scale and pointed to the diagram. Excess body fat 10kg $25, 120 kg $99.
With ads 'Hey, greedy! Lose weight and get normal ticket price'.

That may be so… but sizes are just not accurate anymore!
I’ve bought stuff online and find different countries have different ideas what size S, M, or L mean!

Recently I bought a nice dress and found my usual size was way too much so I had to get a much smaller size and it fit perfect.

Can’t trust the sizing anymore, even shoes!

Had it occurred the possibility that maybe the clothing has shrunk in the wash? I bought clothes years ago and found that they shrunk over time. Whether I was fat or fit, I know that I was not able to wear the shirts after a number of years and that I would not have bought the shirt in the first place if I was unable to wear the shirts loosely.

Yes many times clothes have shrunk in the wash. I do read the care labels and many times I hand wash special or delicate items.

But when buying a new item in store and the sizes are not correct… I did mention even shoes sizes can be inaccurate.

There’s one particular online store of clothing I like… mainly because of the ratings and feedback given on each item from other buyers such as “lovely flowing top, great colours, true to size” etc
Some comments could be “had to go down a size to my usual size”

Anyway, you can tell I’m into mad shopping and I love a good online bargain on something I keep my eye on  Grin I sometimes get an item that was $199 when first out, for $39 with random weekly end of season specials.

I bought all these 3x and XX shirts when I was 'putting on weight in my old age' - now after heart failure, de-fluiding, and cardio surgery I'm back to my old shirts again...   Shocked   ... and I thought I was just getting a little fatter as I grew old - bloody fluid retention nearly got me... what would you all do without me?

My go to tshirt is the Industrie crew, size M but I also my kmart XL for slobbing around the house.

From those figures cheaper to lose a few than use the fuel....  the fat will soon work out that it's too hard to go by train or Greyhound... flying is better.

Think of the upgrades available for oldies and the disabled.  Some airlines do that if they've got free seats in business or even first class, and as the carer - I get a half price in some anyway or at least business class at cattle cost.  The old girl cannot travel cattle class, and I know she'd love to see the Auld Country afore she goes... still a huge job just traveling around the country there though.... I can hop a train or a bus - she can't.

Why doesn't the airline weight you and your suitcases as one measurement
and then charge you a ticket price per Kilogram?
Ticket prices should be based on total weight.

Right now a small person weighing say 50Kg is charged excess baggage
if they have say more than 20Kg of suitcases - their total is say 70Kg -

whereas someone weighing say 100Kg with a 10Kg suitcase pays no extra.
How can that be fair?

'It has been suggested that weight bias is the last socially acceptable form of discrimination. This neglect is concerning given research demonstrating that experiencing weight bias can impair psychological and physical health, hinder economic and employment opportunities, and impede academic performance and education.'
Tourists who pay for their fat slob bodies will have terrible holiday experiences, with cream cake flashbacks and loss of hotel meals. Holiday pics will be depressing with hostess abuse on the miserable trip back home to a life of belly flops.

The rag trade has stepped up in recent years to accomodate larger sizes and it’s about time. Designs and colours to flatter the figure more than ever.
There’s no excuse why larger figured people should dress badly.

There are some that make me cast a critical eye … wearing something in fashion because fashion dictates it … some baddies are skin hugging jeggins or light coloured sheer leggins showing every lump and bump and a top too short showing crutch and derrière area.
And as for sloppy tracky dacks….best to leave it as home wear!

Flats (footwear) that have no arch support are an absolute fashion faux par!

Yes I’m casting an eye of critique (I can’t help it) as I’ve designed and made clothes myself, including my own wedding dress (circa 1976) which to this day still looks modern as I opted for simplicity.

What I’m basically saying is… no matter what size or shape, a person can still look good and get compliments as opposed to dressing without any thought how it shapes the body to look.

Don't forget the G word. Its nolonger social acceptable like other aspects of reality, but the Glutton is a real psychology. I know gluttons, they can be made to almost drule at the mention of food. Gluttony was not so "widespread" in the past for several reasons including, physical work, lower income, and plainer diets of fresh foods.

Yes there absolutely is. And not just larger people, anyone.

Money is a prohibitive factor in many people presenting well. When your choices are between a fetching blouse nad paying the electicity bill, a sensible person would forgo the blouse.

But it's not just that. It may be a parent whose been up all night and had various things spit up on them since, it may be a disabled person who does the best they can.

The point is, as it is with all superficial judgments, do not. Because you've absolutely no idea what brought that person the that moment in this life anymore than they have any idea what led you to your moment of qualification.

I think the point is to judge people by the content of their character, not how they present to one's prejudiced view.

Descriptions of spontaneous human combustion date back to the 17th century, with a large number of cases recorded in the 19th century and a handful in the 20th and 21st centuries. Altogether, there are a few hundred recorded possible cases.  Brown fat may help you burn extra calories and lose weight. Burnt humans have a smell like KFC or Whopper.

Yes in some circumstances very true. I can vouch to that when I never put much thought into myself when I had bubbies and kept a tight budget… nice new clothes were last on my list…..op shops were a blessing though.
A funny story I recall when I was in my early 20s as a working girl (which btw I wore a light blue uniform to avoid having to wear something different every day) I had parked my car and was walking towards train station…about 6.30 am….most men wore suits… and I saw a stressed female waving her arms, running after her husband about “the car keys!”
She had pink fluffy slippers on, pyjamas and dressing gown and rollers in her hair with a scarf.
He must’ve driven to station as she got out of bed to go with him to then take car back to house then go back to bed. Ooops he took car keys with him by error!

Another time on a crappy Monday morning I had no make up on and looked washed out, hair a mess, top was disheveled and wrong colour for my skin tone…
walking up Main Street of our locale…..I’m met by 2 tall well dressed young gentlemen with camera and note pad/pen…to ask me an opinion for local paper WITH my photo!
OMG why of all days when I looked like crap  Grin
I thought just one week in paper along with others and then it will be forgotten.
A couple years later, I type my name in Google for the heck of it…and to my horror… that photo of me looking pale and tired was in Google!

Yep… I know now that if I look okay… I don’t run into anyone I know or have anything famous happen… but if I’m dressing a bit sloppy… there they all are  Grin

.

in the bush, you end up being judged by your character because you cant hide behind some manufactured persona. hence why you cant be a hypocrite .

the inner city urban green intellectual CAN hide behind the image they present to a digital world.
they expect to be judged by their posts.  hence why they are easily able to be hypocrites

Obesity is largely due to the use of high fructose corn syrups. They are everywhere, sweetening bottled fruit juices, packet soups etc etc.

It is not just women either, men too are getting fatter, a point misogynist and poofter Booby did not make in the OP.

You looked fat in your photo.

If you consume more calories than you burn these calories will be stored as fat. It makes no difference on source of calories it's primary school maths.

If you look at pics in the 60s-70s when people went outside to do stuff they weren't as fat because they were active burning calories.
