https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2016/11/this-map-shows-the-rapid-increase-in-glob...

The world is getting fatter:

the average adult is three times more likely to be obese today compared to 1975.

To illustrate the rapid rise of obesity rates around the world over the past 40 years, blogger Max Galka created this animated map for his Metrocosm site. The colour of each country represents its adult obesity rate in the year shown at the top left of the map.

Watch this gif file:

...

The researchers found that worldwide obesity rates (defined as a BMI of 30 or more by the WHO) had increased from 3.2% in 1975 to 10.8% in 2014 for men, and from 6.4% to 14.9% for women.

During that period, the number of obese people worldwide
rose from 105 million to 641 million.

https://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/breaking-the-stigma-on-obesity-australia-urg...

Key Points

In Australia, currently 63.4 per cent of adults and 24 per cent of children are considered overweight or obese.

The World Obesity Federation projects 51 per cent of the global population will be overweight or obese by 2035.
The economic impact of the increased rate of obesity is projected to be $6.38 trillion.

New data released by the World Obesity Federation
projects 51 per cent of the global population will be overweight or obese by 2035 - that's a rise of 13 per cent in 12 years.

The increase will be the fastest among children globally, and also in lower-income countries in Asia and Africa.

The World Obesity Federation is urging all nations to implement an urgent action plan of prevention and treatment measures.

Without this, it predicts the economic impact of the increased rate of obesity will be $6.38 trillion, about three per cent of global GDP.

Ask an obese man why they're fat and they will say it's because they're a pig and eat and drink too much. They may then mention genetics/metabolism.

Ask a woman why they're fat and it will be, oh I just have to walk past a cake shop, it's my genetics.

The narrative is being pushed to medicalise the reason for obesity.  Can anyone guess who will profit?

The left being the useful idiots they are go along with it to save the feelings of fat women, not caring about the increased rates of heart attacks, strokes women are suffering.

Bingo! Anyone disagree with this? Yes or No?

No. a lot of it is medical. Especially when doctors prescribe things that cause water retention. I know several ppl it happened to. As long as you are taking the crap theres no way you can lose any weight. I have also seen what happens when they get off the medications. They lose weight of course.

And numerous endocrine disorders, kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes melitus, a host of metabolic disorders, tumours, and a myriad of other disorders.

But sure, shoot them all and let god sort them out, right?

And just how telling is it that Booby starts a thread humiliating women when he spends all day every day singing Trump's praises?

And of course, he's joined immediately by the chorus of Ozpol misogynists.

Yup. Only a woman hater would make this thread only about women, as if men are getting skinnier.

It's the sheer bigotry that gets me. So what if there's some plus size representation? Are plus sized people supposed to be so embarrassed by the way they look they can only expect to see themselves represented as objects of ridicule?

Think of kids. How kids see themselves. How they hear adults talking about them. Think of that at least if you can't think of the grown-ups.

What's the flip-side, hey? Eating disorders.

The point is to be kind to people. You have no idea from looking at someone what shapes their life. Appearances are illusionary.

Goddamn this forum is hateful.

Don't conflate a very small bunch of people on prednisone with people who shove donuts down their gob.

Excess adipose tissue doesn't have the same appearance as someone with water retention.

Letting one's child grow fat, even obese, is child abuse and/or child neglect. The parents should think of their children and their own responsibility for such children becoming 'fatty bumpahs' under their care.

I dont even know what prednisone is. Im talking about ppis and bp meds. Also anti-depression meds. Some ppl are on ALL those and the side effects are that you gain at least 10kg on each of them. Then when they have been on them for a while they cant lose the weight no matter what they do unless they get off them. And its not a small number of ppl nor is it all water retention although thats a side effect too.
