Reminds me of an "Irish Exam Paper" that was doing the rounds in the mid 1970's. I saw it in a CBD office that I worked in at the time. Here's a few of the questions (from memory):

Who won World War 2?
Who came second?
What is a silver dollar made of?
What time is News at Ten on?
There have been six Kings of England named George, the latest being George VI, name the other five.
Name the odd man out: Cardinal Heenan, The Pope, Jack the Ripper, Archbishop of Canterbury.
In the 1975 sheepdog trials how many were found guilty?

And a few more that I've forgotten.

What has caused it?

Is it junk food?

Is it alcohol and drug abuse?

People looking for something to fret over.

you can just google and get an answer, so why remember stuff?

same as the calculator probably killed peoples maths skills

and machinery to do manual labour probably killed peoples physical strength.

porn probably killed mens need to be high status

fast food killed womens ability to cook

chinese textiles killed the need to learn how to sew and make clothes.

it certainly seems people are less resilient today.

one does wonder if losing literally 10's of millions of young men in WW1 and WW2 has removed most of the brave warrior genes from the gene pool and left us with those who were a touch cowardly to survive and breed.

stress leave is higher in the police force and teaching profession of today then amongst men who endured the mud and carnage of the trenches

,maybe the classroom is a tad difficult but its doubtful it is as bad as the somme Embarrassed

Don't feel so embarrassed - lots of kids can't handle school
and many are helped with remedial reading to at least be able to fill out their dole forms etc.
