40 have been killed and 740 others wounded.

11:39 GMT

An adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei appeared to support what the Israeli media have described as the biggest Palestinian attack on the country in years.

“We congratulate the Palestinian fighters. We will stand by the Palestinian fighters until the liberation of Palestine and Jerusalem,” Rahim Safavi said, as quoted by the semi-official ISNA news agency.

On ABC 24 -

I just saw many buildings/ towers collapsing in Gaza.
they were demolished - collapsing on to their footprints.
I can't find that on other news sites.

Were there people inside?

They learnt that from the Israelis

But the idiots refuse to learn anything else, like how to make a flourishing, advanced country out of nothing but the effort of the people.

If Muslims could learn THAT, they would not be as ****ed as they are everywhere.

You might have a point except Israel has been blockading Gaza for decades, preventing the Palestinians any opportunities to thrive.

Massive explosion as Gaza high-rises destroyed by jets.
Were there people inside them?

video here:

https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-middle-east-67041495

Israeli warplanes have hit several buildings in the centre of Gaza City, including an 11-storey building called Palestine Tower.

It houses Hamas radio stations on the rooftop and also holds a cinema.

Israel has launched retaliatory strikes in the Gaza strip, officials there say, after an unprecedented assault into Israeli territory by Palestinian militants earlier on Saturday -

If this was about land, it would have been settled yonks ago. The Palestians would be thriving, not in spite of the Jews, but because of them. Its all about the Abrahamic religions.

I have a fairly low opinion of religion's benifit to humanity at the best of times. And so do Leftist Laborites who are predominently agnostic or antagonistic to religion . . . except when it comes to Israel. How do they reconcile this hypocrisy? By pretending its not about religion.

Why do they adhere to this hypocrisy? The Left's resentment of Israel's capitalist economic success, and a fundamental opposition to any of the USA's allies, including the Australian government except when under Labor Government when they would hope to undermine the alliance.

I'd bet this is a last-ditch attempt by Hamas to disrupt Israeli-Saudi Arabian peace treaty negotiations.

Hamas will likely be hoping for an Israeli overreaction.

Israel has declared war.

This has about as much to do with religion as the Northern Ireland conflict or the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

The Palestinians and Israelis are fighting for existential reasons.

Palestine did not exist as a country until Israel did. It is 100% about religion. The middle east was carved up however western countries wanted it. Most of the countries are very recent inventions. The locals got over it and moved on, until the Jews stepped out of line.

Religion is the marker by which most on each side identify themselves, not the reason for war.

I'd bet there are Palestinian Christians who stand with their Palestinian compatriots against Israel, as there may be Arab-Israelis who stand with Israel.

Had another Semitic people or other foreign entity claimed Palestine as Jews did, the local Palestinians would have risen up against them also.

This is about cultural identity and nationhood, not religious affiliation.
