Ayers Rock tourism is dead
Oct 8th, 2023 at 8:56pm

It's nothing  to do with lack of flights, if there was demand, there would be plenty of flights.
They killed it.

The national park saw a massive spike in visitors prior to the closure of the Uluru climb, Parks Australia documents show, with 406,821 tourists travelling to the region in 2019.

Now, operators say the remote region is struggling to claw back to its pre-pandemic visitor numbers.

It's laughable that so many non-Aboriginals seem to think that Uluru is the Vatican of Aboriginalia.

Many years ago I worked with an Abo guy, absolutely lovely bloke, went to Ayer Rock as he felt compelled to go being a Sydney urban Abo. He hated it, and got mugged in Alice Springs and the young blokes who mugged him called him a greasy wog.
He really did look more  Greek than Abo.

The Abbos wrecked Ayers Rock  -
no one can climb it now - except for them - and they are too lazy to climb it -

they ruin everything.

Stuff them - vote NO.

You know, this “take over” of Ayer’s Rock and stopping anyone (mainly non indigenous I gathered) from climbing the rock, has made me take more notice of the power the indigenous obviously have and do use.
Just an example of creating division against the rest of Australians.

I have felt disappointment and some bitterness for quite time some about this. In our travels now, finally finding some time to do this sort of stuff, it’s been taken from us to have that opportunity.
I have no desire to go there so soon, as a result. And it’s any wonder the tourism is diminishing … I wonder why?

If ownership claim is made that’s fine, but why not share a big rock that’s probably older than when dinosaurs walked the earth?

This “ownership” takeover is becoming more evident where I’m living … new boards are put up near old township names with new indigenous names now.
They are just springing up all over the place. It made me feel they already have a voice.
Yet, in all our family history of over 100 years working on the dam constructions, and in the fields yielding fruit and vegetables for the markets, there’s only ever been 3 nationalities doing the back breaking work - Anglo aussies, Italians, and Dutch. Then at a later date as I worked in the packing sheds, along came the Vietnamese. They all came in one van, worked in the heat or rain together, and helped each other to settle into homes over the course of a few years.
Never once had we seen an indigenous work in this area. Especially doing any of that back breaking work!

This “Voice” vote has me stumped as it seems they are already being listened to and being allowed to rename places or shut down tourism areas to claim as their own… not sharing is selfish.

I hear the “yes” vote will cause division.
But I bet the “no” vote will cause division also.
Nothing is clear about saying “yes” and it’s like signing a blank cheque.

An adage I think I will take heed of is “When in doubt…. don’t”

It's funny (not really) that in the linked ABC site,
absolutely no mention is made of the other likely
possibility that tourism has steeply declined since
the Aboriginals shut down non-indigenous
climbing of Ayers Rock
from October 2019.

They failed to understand that (possibly?) 50% of
the tourists—particularly from overseas—visited
the Rock with the intention of climbing it.

At any rate, Ayers Rock was in situ 550 million years
ago, obviously long before the Aboriginals migrated
here from south-eastern Asia.

Ayers Rock or Uluru?

I'm be happy to see the monolith named as Ayers
Rock-Uluru, as it's important to also acknowledge the
involvement of the white settlers in developing the
country whose benefits the Aboriginals share and enjoy.

I think its the air fare.  A direct return flight from Melbourne to Alice Spring would cost $820 per person.   More expensive than going to Japan.   If you have a family of four, thats 4000 without even booking the accommodation.

This, and the Sydney opera house/bridge were probably our two most iconic tourist destinations. One has been sacrificed to pagan racism and sexism. That, above all, is probably what drives tourists away. Instead of a laid back, friendly egalitarian culture, they are reading online that they are banned because of the colour of their skin. It's hard to feel good about that. Now they will be reading about people being chased off our beaches because of racism.

Don't underestimate the broader ramifications to Australia's tourism industry.

Nobody wants to go there because of all the crime and evil and all the BS about poor bugger me crap

It is dangerous - the chance of being murdered is 800% higher in the NT than any other place in Australia.

The NT is a failed State

The Chinese are back everywhere, except Ayers Rock and Alice which is out of control with crime.

[b]Chinese tourism rebounds by 111pc due to 'pent up demand'
The latest ABS data shows there has been a rebound in Chinese tourism.

Veteran tour guide Benny Pan has been working around the clock since mid-year to service their return.

"We are very busy every day," said the 55-year-old, who's been working in the tourism industry for two decades.

"There are more Chinese tourists coming back than expected."

Mr Pan said his company recently purchased six new buses to prepare for a busy season in the lead up to a national holiday in October and the 2024 Chinese New Year.

Stick to hitting yourself in the head with your kettlebell turdie,  you might actually get something right that way.  Albo has only recently reinstated Chinese group tourism visas. This is what tourism Australia has to say on the subject

Quote:
Tourism Australia had flagged a rise in visitor numbers once seat capacity from China returned to 54 per cent in June, or 70 flights a week. This was up from 42 per cent in May and up from about 5 per cent at the end of 2022 when China's borders were still closed.

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Stick to popping pills ya dumbarse

Considering Australian Tourism Industry is a giant 'rip-off' like the American Health System.
Little wonder people give Australia a miss altogether.
New Zealand offers 'more' for half the price, for starters.

The Anglos and Saxons left Wales for the indigenous Britons.
Can't you just give the Boongs at least Uluru?

Get your grubby Tourism hands off it.
Go make something of your own accord to attract Tourists.
Stop sponging off the Boongs and their stuff. Get yer own!

The local natives were cashing in with all the tourist dollars.

Now they complain about being unemployed and ask for more taxpayer handouts.

Alice has become a crime ridden shithole i couldn't tell anyone to visit there.

More of your absurd bullshit.  You really need to get
your hand off your dick mate!

Quote:
The state and territory breakdown of Recorded Crime -
Victims from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows
the Northern Territory has the highest rate of murder at
7.7 per 100,000 people. This is over three times greater
than the next highest state, NSW.
