You think maybe the idea that you cannot climb the rock, but have to admire the thing from the base, is something that you have to account for as the reason why tourists do not want to go visit.

Whatever tourism destination you have in your area, you can claim the historical heritage to tourists. But, if tourists are not allowed to visit it, they won't go.

I have to disagree that Ayers Rock somehow "belongs"
to our Aboriginals, or it's "their" rock. It's been there
for 550 million years, millennia before the Aborigines
ever set foot in this continent.

Ayers Rock "belongs" to each and every Australian.
When we start creating laws and legislation based
solely on race, then all is lost in any true democracy.

(This is one major reason for my NO voice vote.)
