Aborigines and Moslems are much alike.
Both their cultures are 'Portals' to Africa.
One from the Middle-East,
another from Sahul (which is the region we are in).
One walks around a Holy Stone in Mecca.
Another is a Sacred Stone in Australia.

But not all Aborigines wish to stay 'traditional'.
Many now wish to be a part of and contribute to
that sublimely emerging true culture that will represent this Region in it's purest sense although this Region, one of 8 (habitable) on this planet, will have 'Portals' in existence here to the other 7 Regions... like Queensland is for North America (and California is for Australia) and Victoria is for South America (and Chile is for Australia) and so on.

So let Uluru be for the 'traditionalists' of the Aboriginal Portal. You yourselves just call it a 'rock'.

Why chase after weaknesses, when you should be following strengths.

You can be twice as stupid with each post you make. Israelis are conscripted into the military because the Palestinians want to destroy Israelis. Israelis are not out picking fights with Palestinians. They are reacting to the Palestinians attacking Israel.

If Palestinians stopped making attacks against the Israelis, there would be an end to hostilities. If the Israelis stopped attacking the Palestinians, there would be no more Israel. We could probably surmise that if all Jewish Israelis moved out of Israel to countries more tolerant of them, the remainder of the Israelis would succumb to genocide (unless the Israelis converted to Islam and joined Palestine).

Oh, well - the Religion of Peace should have taken the first steps towards peace, eh?  You know - who first cut off tourism to Ayers Rock?  Who killed and ate the first Abo?  So many choices - so little time.... ummmm...

It's laughable that so many non-Aboriginals seem to think that Uluru is the Vatican of Aboriginalia.

What's laughable is you making that statement.

It has nothing to do with the Vatican of Aboriginalia.

It has to do with the monolith/monument/iconic land feature.... because it's there.

The Aboriginals have had nothing to do with it until recent times.

You know, this “take over” of Ayer’s Rock and stopping anyone (mainly non indigenous I gathered) from climbing the rock, has made me take more notice of the power the indigenous obviously have and do use.
Just an example of creating division against the rest of Australians.

I have felt disappointment and some bitterness for quite time some about this. In our travels now, finally finding some time to do this sort of stuff, it’s been taken from us to have that opportunity.
I have no desire to go there so soon, as a result. And it’s any wonder the tourism is diminishing … I wonder why?

If ownership claim is made that’s fine, but why not share a big rock that’s probably older than when dinosaurs walked the earth?

This “ownership” takeover is becoming more evident where I’m living … new boards are put up near old township names with new indigenous names now.
They are just springing up all over the place. It made me feel they already have a voice.
Yet, in all our family history of over 100 years working on the dam constructions, and in the fields yielding fruit and vegetables for the markets, there’s only ever been 3 nationalities doing the back breaking work - Anglo aussies, Italians, and Dutch. Then at a later date as I worked in the packing sheds, along came the Vietnamese. They all came in one van, worked in the heat or rain together, and helped each other to settle into homes over the course of a few years.
Never once had we seen an indigenous work in this area. Especially doing any of that back breaking work!

This “Voice” vote has me stumped as it seems they are already being listened to and being allowed to rename places or shut down tourism areas to claim as their own… not sharing is selfish.

I hear the “yes” vote will cause division.
But I bet the “no” vote will cause division also.
Nothing is clear about saying “yes” and it’s like signing a blank cheque.

An adage I think I will take heed of is “When in doubt…. don’t”

The No won't cause division.

Are you saying the Aboriginals who are voting no will be a part of doing that?

They're voting No because they believe the Yes vote getting up will cause division.

And it will ..... the whole pretext is racially prejudiced.

You are right in one context .... if it aint broke don't fix it.

Our Constitution doesn't warrant amending to an open ended unelected body that not one Australian, including Aboriginals know how it's going to operate & what jurisdiction it will have.

Well - it was until they learned that being an innocent bystander who never did anything to anyone got you shot or gassed.

One of our contributors here said he would have no problem with guilty by accusation since he didn't do anything wrong - that's what they all say... as a Token Black, member of an oppressed species, here you should know the difference ...

Clearly your education is lacking somewhere......

You're reaching way beyond your knowledge and reasoning skills.. give it up.

"Can you show me in the manual for Babi Yar where it tells you you can be shot without reason?"

"It's not in the manual, Sir!"

"Not in the manual?  You mean you never saw anyone shot at Babi Yar?"

"Yes, sir - four thousand a day!"

"Then how did you get to be there at all?"

"Well, I guess I just kind of followed the crowd, Sir."

Wake up, Smith!  You're truly struggling now... stay away from that methra and orange juice...
