And from what I gather about the reports by Jews around the world (including one guy that was in the Australian army), the Palestinians (and many Middle Easterners) have a problem with Jewish people, simply because of the association with Israel.

Israelis are not going about indiscriminately shooting Palestinians dead. That might well have changed in the last week, given that Israel is going to war with Hamas. But, the Israelis are not going about picking fights with the Palestinians simply because of their ethnicity.
