Israel hasn't gone into Gaza yet - what is stopping them?
Whatever happened to the 6 day war?
This one has already lasted 12 days.
Softening them up with aerial campaign before going in.
Probably also waiting for phone batteries to go flat to disrupt communications.
Urban warfare is toughest plenty of places to hide which differs from hezbollah who have to cross open fields.
As an American General said war is not about dying for your country it's making the other guys die for theirs.
There will be losses on Israeli side when they go in they're trying to minimise that.
Hello Baron
Good to see you online tonight. Such terrible events can make a person wonder if humanity has learned anything from the lessons of history. How do you see all this unfolding/ending?
Hamas has attacked Israel several times since Israel gave Gaza back.
Everyone calls for a ceasefire which only results in Hamas regrouping and rearming for another attack.
If international pressure forces a ceasefire Hamas will regroup and rearm in another year or 2 there will be another war.
Foreign aid to rebuild will be siphoned off for the next war effort.
I don't think Israel will take much notice this time. The jews are the only people who have to justify why they shouldn't be killed.
The propaganda over fake hospital attack shows Hamas are hurting and want this stopped and will tell whatever lies they can to demonise Israel. I should note Hamas rockets have hit hospitals on both sides in this war yet nobody cares when Hamas hit Israeli hospitals.
Israel needs to wipe out Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad it's going to get messy i think they will do it
Then all Israel has to worry about will be Hezbollah in Lebanon and the mad Mullahs in Iran.
And after Hezbollah, Israel will need to deal with Iran.
Then Lebanon, then Syria, Jordan, the house of Saud, Egypt, and on and on. Israel can do none of this on its own, and therein lies the rub.
If Israel doesn't make friends with its enemies quick, this war will go global.
In 1973, the economic response of the gulf states to Israel caused a generational oil shock crisis, recession and stagflation. The terrorist response saw the rise of groups like Black September, a decade of hijackings, the rise of terrorist states like Libya, and on and on.
This crisis could make the Ukraine war look like the good old days.
It would be nice if Israel could just wipe out Hamas, but it can't do so without pushback from the Arab states and Iran.
Before you act all butch, remember. We told you exactly the same thing on Sept 11, 2001. We warned of you of global terror, ISIS and endless wars.
Twenty years later, you were still groaning.
