Everybody can have a country - Belgians, Tuvaluans, Kiribatians, Haitians, Bahamians, Barbadosians, Andorrans, Lichtensteinians. Everybody, no matter how preposterous.
Not the Jews who predate almost any people in existence with their own countries and who had a country where Israel is now well before most countries came into existence.
Israelis have a country - Israel. That is a brute fact, There's no need for arguing it's right to exist - it exists.
But claims of Israeli citizenship cannot be predicated on any ethnic claim.
To become an Israeli (excluding by descent from inhabitants since 1948) - an individual can become a citizen via Israel's idiosyncratic 'Law of Return' which does not discriminate by ethnicity, but by evidence of an individual having been born into a non-Israeli Jewish family and who has not converted to any other religion or who has practised Judaism for a sufficient enough time.
