Israel Defence Force spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus has discussed the recent air strike on the northern Gaza refugee camp for a second day.

The Israeli military said that the second strike in Jabaliya was a targeted attack on the Hamas command and control complex.

“We are at war with Hamas ever since the attack on Israel on October 7 and we intend to irradicate Hamas before ending this war,” he told Sky News Australia.

“We continue to strike Hamas commanders.”

Mr Conricus said he could not confirm reports that Muhammad A’sar a Hamas leader was killed by the second strike on Jabaliya refugee camp.

“I can say we continue to hunt them wherever they are whether or not they are hiding in tunnels or safe houses or if they are in other locations.

“And we will continue to do so until all of the senior echelons of Hamas are no longer opposing a threat to Israel.”

Mr Conricus went on to say that Israel is doing whatever it can to avoid civilian casualties.
