GST - its the 'tribute' tax America gets from other nations. Canada was first to pay its 'protection money', Australia soon followed.

We pay inflated prices but we get a nuclear umbrella -
that would cost $1 trillion if we did it ourselves.

We also get protection - a bit like mafia protection.
Without the Yanks in WW2 we wouldn't even be here.
Our soldiers were training with broomsticks because there were no guns.
We're hopeless.

No it wouldn't - because we would be selling to other Nations our 'superior product'.

Americans are only good in the 'Air'.
We are 'down under' better at Submarines.
Our Government just doesn't want to know about it.

Why does it have to be 'nuclear' to be effective?
Look at the mere little drones and the game-changer they have provided.

You know they're making motions to making Australia 'Nuclear' which would mean - making our own Nukes (in case those North Sentinelese attack us! Shocked).

We should be trying to disarm our region with proper
arms reduction treaties so that no one feels threatened.
The arms race is driving everyone broke.

Best point of the week!  Cool

And you wonder where all this 'inflation' is going into.

Well yes - we don't have the money to buy all that stuff -
we have to print the money which causes inflation.
The RBA should tell the Govt. to get stuffed -
we aren't going to print any more money.

Force the Chinese and the Yanks to the table and make them discuss it.

Broken Arrow.

50 Nukes in the USA that had gone missing.
with 6 still not found.

Ex-USSR Nukes: 40% not accounted for. Estimated that 50 known nukes were smuggled from the Ex-USSR 'officially' while the rest have gone 'missing'.

Nukes are everywhere and 'anyone' has one.

60 Minutes Sunday night.

The ADF destroyed 37 Taipan helicopters when there was
nothing wrong with the basic design.
They could have been given to Ukraine.
It was most likely a hi-tech helmet that the Taipan pilots were using that night
called the TopOwl which was retro fitted that caused the deaths.

https://9now.nine.com.au/60-minutes/taipan-helicopter-safety-warning-signs-probe...

The TopOwl has been used by militaries around the world for the best part of two decades.

It comprises a helmet-mounted sight display on which is projected critical information about the aircraft, including altitude, height above ground, pitch and roll (attitude), ground speed, vertical speed and whether the aircraft is climbing or descending.

The latest software upgrade for the TopOwl, HMSD V5.10, was found to carry significant risk, according to an experienced test pilot with the Army Aviation Test and Evaluation Section (AATES).

He found that when the aircraft was in a turn, the displayed angle of bank washed out if he looked to the left or to the right; a 30 degree angle of bank would, for example, be represented as 23 to 25 degrees if the pilot turned his head 90 to 120 degrees either side.

In the test pilot's own words, the "ambiguous aircraft attitude" represented an "unacceptable risk to flight safety".

Even more alarmingly, the test pilot found the new software could result in "Controlled Flight Into Terrain", making it a "substantial risk of multiple deaths".

Greens Senator David Shoebridge, who has been probing the safety of the Taipan ever since one ditched in Jervis Bay, four months before the Lindeman Island incident, said the AATES report from June 2019 was deeply concerning.

"This is the kind of report that should ground the fleet. 'Substantial risk of multiple deaths', if that doesn't ground the fleet, what does ground the fleet?" Shoebridge says.

60 Minutes cast the ADF in a very bad light.

It seems they have wasted $3.7 billion on those helicopters -
our tax money pissed against the wall.
https://www.eurasiantimes.com/ncb-edited-australia-starts-scrapping-its-problema...

They did unsafe upgrades on them and all the details are being held up with 4 different enquiries.
If they had just left them alone they'd still be there and be OK
and no one would have died.
4 soldiers died in the accident near Hamilton island.

https://edition.cnn.com/2024/05/22/asia/china-military-drills-taiwan-punishment-...

Thu May 23, 2024

China has launched two days of large-scale military drills surrounding Taiwan.

in what it called “punishment” for so-called “separatist acts,” days after the self-ruling island swore in a new democratically elected leader who called on Beijing to cease its intimidation tactics.

As part of the drills, dozens of Chinese fighter jets carrying live ammunition conducted mock strikes against “high-value military targets” of the “enemy” alongside destroyers, frigates and missile speedboats, according to China’s state broadcaster CCTV.

The exercises, which started early on Thursday and will encircle Taiwan, pose the first real test for newly elected Lai Ching-te as he attempts to manage relations with the island’s powerful authoritarian neighbor.

China’s ruling Communist Party says Taiwan is part of its territory, despite never having controlled it, and has vowed to take the island, by force if necessary.

I guess the Chinese didn't build the largest navy in the world
to use only in war games?

https://edition.cnn.com/2024/05/23/asia/china-military-drills-taiwan-second-day-...

China’s military drills around Taiwan are designed to test its ability to “seize power” over the island, the People’s Liberation Army said Friday as its forces kicked off a second day of large-scale exercises encircling its democratic neighbor.

The drills are the largest in more than a year and come just days after Taiwan swore in its new president, Lai Ching-te, who is openly loathed by Beijing for championing the island’s sovereignty and distinct identity.

Beijing has denounced Lai as a “dangerous separatist” and decried his inauguration speech on Monday, during which he called on China to cease its intimidation of Taiwan, which has grown much more pronounced under Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

The PLA, which dwarfs Taipei’s outgunned military, kicked off the exercises on Thursday morning, sending warships and fighter jets around Taiwan and its outlying islands in what it called “a strong punishment for separatist acts of Taiwan independence forces.”

On Friday, the PLA’s Eastern Theater Command said it was continuing the drills on both sides of the Taiwan island chain to “test the ability to jointly seize power, launch joint attacks and occupy key areas.”

Defence summit in Canberra revealed 1,200 Chinese spies in Australia

May 29, 2024 - 8:01PM

The Australian Foreign Editor Greg Sheridan says the significant number of Chinese spies in Australia is a “failure of Australian institutions”.

This comes amid the recent defence summit in Canberra, where a former Chinese spy has warned there are more than 1,200 Chinese spies in Australia.

“We’ve published this figure several times before at The Australian,” Mr Sheridan told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“Most of those are … not full-time professionals and their predominant role is to surveil and harass the Chinese diaspora, especially the student community.

Mr Sheridan attributes this as a “failure of Australian institutions and failure of governments of both sides of the aisle, politically.”
