Education is a Failure!
Nov 3rd, 2023 at 1:35pm

I'm hearing of more and more parents taking their kids out of Government Public Schools (NSW) because of the increase in violence to their kids.
Seems 'discipline' has gone out of the window at these Government Schools in way of violence, substance abuse in the open, lack of homework, lack of funding by the Government and much more.
Violence against Teachers is also apparent that nearly every Teacher seeks employment in Private or Catholic Schools (Even Islamic Schools) - rather than work in Government Schools.

It's pretty obvious that in Government Schools there are no 'consequences' for the actions of the kids, unlike in Private where the Wrath of the Parents would be great if the kid gets suspended at $6,000+ a term costs.

Another factor is the 'self esteem' of the Government Schools who can only afford one Lathe for Industrial Arts or one Guitar for Music - while the Private Schools who rake it in off the Parents also get funded by the Government and thus have something like four Lathes and four Guitars, etc.

How and why the extra funding that Government/Public Schools desperately need, is going to Private Schools is beyond me?
Anyone got an idea on how this is and why?

So this is why more Parents are teaching their kids at HOME SCHOOL, no different to when COVID Lockdowns were in place, or how Remote Area kids have had to be educated.
Sure beats having their kids bashed by bullies who love posting their exploits on Instagram and such just for the hell of it and because there is NO DISCIPLINE of CONSEQUENCE for their violent actions.

It's getting to the point where I can tell the Private School (and Catholic) kids from the Govt/Public - 'behavior'. The Private are very well behaved, disciplined in their actions and commitments and polite. Govt/Public are ADHD nutcases.

The only odd factor in this Opening Post is that when it comes to HSC results, there is no defining bias of High Scorers between Govt/Public, Catholic and Private.
Mostly females though, Govt/Public Students still score high in the HSC competively and I wonder if the 'adversity' of having to deal with the violence and behaviour of other students, along with a weak 'adult' discipline culture makes them a 'better' student in the long run, than those who score high also in a system where the adversity comes only from the Adults and a strong discipline from the Private?

Anyway - do you think Albanese can fix this Problem?
If so - vote 'Yes'.  Cheesy
I would say he doesn't give a hoot and this will only get worse.
...is the Government turning out like their Schools?

Note
: In Victoria, I hear that the Govt/Public School kids are better behaved, well educated and are GRATEFUL  for their CHEAPER EDUCATION. While the expensive Private School kids are SNOBBY BRATS.

Identity grievance ‘degrees’ are polluting our universities with self-obsessed activist morons who don’t belong anywhere near a place of higher learning. And that's putting it nicely.

I know a parent who back in about 1998 took his son out of school
and home schooled him because kids
were found injecting their arms with heroin at his son's school.

I'm happy with our local primary school.

1stborn went there, killed it and is at one of the best and most academic schools in the country.

2ndborn is in year one now, and already streamed into an advanced maths class. They're not afraid to accelerate the bright kids which is great.

On the same topic.  They are now introducing a new 4 day school week, and flexible school hours.  I am not sure if this is a good idea.

Been that way since around 1989 when that 'feminist academic' (now there's a hoot) and State 'senator' Meredith Bergmann decided on the basis of a single untested and even unpublished 'study' of SEVEN disturbed girls from US schools ....  (wait for it) ..... meant that the current approach to 'education' was harmful to girls and needed to be amended to more suit their (apparently no different from boys goes the theory, but hell - why hold on to that when there's advantage to be had?) feminine skills sets etc more closely - and you see the results to this day... many more 'female' students than men ... more graduates... vastly more 'teachers' and the consequent demand and imposition of power and control over education and curricula so as to favour and further every ridiculous running dog or fellow traveler agenda, while demanding that women get more and more  and more of the best spots - even after, by their own admission FINALLY - that women are paid currently more for their ordinary working week than men are for their ordinary working week plus all the extra hours.... something like $1730 or so for their normal hours of work, as opposed to $1680 or something for men on normal hours plus the extra hours they work.

Wake Up, Australia!  Look what they've done to the joint!!

"So what is it, General/Admiral/Air Marshal, that you DO so well it puts you above all those men?"

"I run a damned good meeting!!"

"Combat experience?"

"Nil - gets in the way of true leadership and warps perceptions..... "

"But what about morale in the armed forces?"

"Not worth a damn - that's why we need more women and poofs and Aborigines!!  That extra Voice will fix everything!!"

"But what about the fanatical enemy?"

"We'll talk them down and get them to see sense..........."

Part of the 'socialisation' process is imbuing in kids the 'responsibility' of attending 'work' regularly and during the hours of work.... makes for good little drone workers... you understand.... all streets are two way - a road that leads to Rome also leads away from Rome... you can be a drone or not.... you just need the right direction early in life....

Would anyone back then REALLY want to go to Rome?  Fetid swamps, foul water, social divides like you've never seen, open sewers, ordure thrown out of windows on high without regard for passing pedestrians (The Great Unwashed - it was better in the hilltop suburbs and the miasma didn't rise so thick), disease and early death, internecine warfare .... then the Christians got hold of it... Mama Mia!!  Look what St Patrick did to Oireland!!

The Lefties have invoked Victimhood and Failure into Education. The damage has been done.

Four days a week?  That'll be a serious imposition on all the Aboriginal kids what don't attend at all ... those bastards .... How Dare They!!  That's Invasion™ and Intervention™, that is!!

Voice 2.0 will fix all that!  By the year 2024 no Aboriginal kid will be incarcerated in a school for four days a week!!

Australia is high on the list of chaotic classrooms according to a recent OECD report on classroom behaviour management. There is also evidence that teachers increasingly are leaving the profession. These two facts constitute a slow-motion disaster for our children’s learning, their future and the wellbeing of our teachers. Something urgently must be done to improve the management of disruptive behaviours in our schools.

Three factors must be considered when managing behaviour in a classroom: the group’s needs; the individual’s needs; and what to do when these come into conflict. What works for the group comes first. The teacher is responsible for class functioning and their needs must be met if they are to provide effective leadership. Anything that undermines a teacher’s authority is ruinous, as responsibility without authority is a sure recipe for stress.

From a position of authority teachers clarify the moral values in their classroom, provide rules for when values are not met and predictably enforce the costs of broken rules. When disruptions occur, the experience of boundaries predictably implemented is important for the moral development of the students, helping them move away from the self-focused motivation “what’s in it for me” towards “what is good for us”.

Unfortunately, teachers can be unprepared or uncomfortable when authority is required of them. This increasing discomfort about leadership is understandable. Our culture and media are cynical about authority figures. Rather than being respected, leaders are doubted and suspected. Some hold to a notion that “authority = hierarchy = exploitation = evil” and are uncomfortable exerting control or upsetting others. Others may struggle because they have experience of harm from excessive authority. But whatever the cause, this hesitancy and lack of confidence around leadership are seriously problematic.

Because just as excessive authority is wrong, insufficient authority is also wrong.

Without adequate authority there will be a lack of safety, security, trust and order in the classroom. Without authority’s calm and confident restraint, chaos ensues as immature children use immature behaviours to solve their problems. When costs are not imposed on those who break rules, hope for justice is lost, others question why they should follow the rules and respect for the teacher diminishes as ruptures are not repaired and instead are blown over. This decreased confidence in authority is a major factor in what is disrupting our classrooms today.

Take government money out of the so–called private schools and direct it to the public schools.

Decent buildings, a/c, teaching facilities would help give teachers pride in their profession and lead to better teachers joining.
