Was at a good food shop—THEY GOT LYLES GOLDEN SYRUP BACK IN STOCK, YAY! Grabbed two tins.

(a tin of Lyles Golden Syrup featured in two episodes of Vicar of Dibley.)

Lyles (was Tate and Lyle for a long time, maybe Tate fell off the twig?) is a nice clean golden syrup—100% invert sugar. I used it and honey—another invert sugar with ≈ 3% impurities—in brewing when a beer needed “drying out” a bit.
