These cause two legged critters grief.
I made some oats for brekky yesterday, got distracted—burned the pan, black-brown gunk stuck immovably to the bottom. Shit!
I cleaned what I could, filled the pan, let it stand a few hours. Soaking always good.
Yesterday evening, poured out the water, gave a scrub with a green nylon scrubby, rinsed so there was a very thin layer of water on the bottom of the pan, spread bicarb thickly, let it stand overnight.
This morning—burned stuff easily removed with a scrubby.
If the stains are more stubborn—fill half way with water squeeze a few halves of lemon into the pan and add the squeezed lemons. Citric acid is a reducing agent. Let this stand overnight, try cleaning the pan. If no go—repeat the adding of lemons and lemon juice, boil the water and lemons. Pan should now clean.
An alternative, cover the bottom with a thick paste of bicarb, add lemon juice—an almighty fizzing happens, some of that will lift, hopefully, some of the burned on crap from the bottom and sides of the pan.
If your pan is burned on the outside it does not conduct heat properly—try the above tricks on the outside.
Happy cooking!
