It's true - I have met kids who couldn't tell the time on an analog clock or watch.
Even some as old as 16.

Did you use an abacus in school, or a calculator?

When I was about 13 we used slide rules.
By the time I went to Uni we had calculators but
programmable ones weren't allowed in exams.

My dad taught me slide rule when I was in primary. I reckon even doing simple problems with a  slide rule makes you visualise math in a way you can't electronically.

My daughter is doing advanced maths and physics for HSC and  is light years ahead of what I ever did tho, probably 1 kid in her school could do that level without a calculator  Grin

I used an HP32E calculator at Uni after upgrading from a Casio.

I have an HP 50g graphing calculator now and I never used
more than 1% of its power.  Smiley

So, no abacus then.

You embraced new technology.

Digital clocks are new technology.

Children should be embracing new technology.

Yes the HP32E is very old and it's all held together with masking tape
but it still works.

Your daughters calculator looks like good value.

does it have RPN?

They're outdated technology.

Can you use an abacus?

Can you drive a horse & buggy?

My wife can't deal with 24 hour time on a digital clock but she can read an analogue timepiece.

My 21st present from my sis was an automatic Seiko. I gave it to my youngest son when we were cleaning up after the flood. Still ticking away.

Edit: Looks very much like that, no grand stamp though.
