Hi Taveners…
Nov 21st, 2023 at 8:19pm

Pub open?
Lemon squash please.
Imma cleaning up and came across these!
I don’t drink bottle beer with caps but ages ago we did and mixed with lemonade (shandy) and I thought, gee the more we drank, the smarter we would become  Grin

Here’s the bottle caps with questions and answers, like a pub quiz or trivia night.
I will turn them over one at a time.
Tomorrow I do another.

In case it’s hard to read because of downsizing photo …
Q. What is the state animal of NSW
A. Platypus
(Who knew that?)

I never had a clue Sophia-- who would have thought that NSW had its own animal- you know I remember seeing one when I was  a kid- having a grand old time slopping around in the water, didn't even know I  was there or that I was there watching it the whole time- I have never touched one even so..

you are very lucky if you see a wild one..they are quite rare I think.     Cool

Very shy and very crafty... sunrise or sunset is the best.  If it knew you were there you wouldn't have seen it.  Thing in the news about some being drowned by nets and other garbage....  hmmmmm ..... enclosed waters.... who has the right to net fish there?

Victorians are Wetbacks or Mexicans.... they cross the Murray to get here and are thus wet... aren't you up north with the Canadians now?

No we don't call Victorians Cockroaches ... that is the moniker applied to NSWelshmen. It's origins date back to the 1st State of Origin Rugby League games in 1980/81.

It was applied by then QLD coach & former QLD representative Barry Muir.

In response to that the QLDers were called Cane Toads ..... I think we got the better deal.... Cane Toads eat Cockroaches.

You're known as Mexicans up here or as a former boardie used to say Dicktorians.  Grin Tongue

And you lot bought those big cockroaches up here when you migrate for the winter. Wink

No Graps .... the name came from former QLD coach Barry Muir. Not our beloved Joh Grin

So "never you mind about that".  Tongue

Well Sophia.
These things of Toads, Roaches and Mexicans were created by sudsy Australians who drink beer day in day out at a Pub and call themselves Re-PUB-lick-cans like a sophisticated political party *burp.
They are also the ones that come up with Mud-Sharks, Drop-Bears and that we live in a part of the world that is called South Asia.
It's called the Media Culture of Australia, which the Scientific name for these Australians are called The Bulls_hit Culture of Australia (who belong in Oceania Wink).

Damn - I could swear I heard the illustrious Joh use it.. must have stolen it.... yeah - that makes sense....

"Sir Joh - what about your media launch?"

"Oh.. oh.. no, no, no ... I know nothing about that!  Tragedy!  All those journalists at the bottom of the river.. tragic...something to do with those police royal commissions, I believe...."

"No - I meant your launch in the media for your run at President of Australia."

"Oh, that.. well, you mark my words...things will be different once we're in Canberra - we do things diff'runtly here, you know... you can't fool a Queenlunder more than once or twice... let me tell you!  We're quicker off the mark than that!"

"What about the division of powers?"

"We present a united front here - there is no division... none.. we don't do things that way!!"

.... and his ghost may be heard
As he passed by that Bill of Rights,
You'll come a-waltzing a Queenslander with me...

I remember when we were on a cruise from Seattle to Sydney a couple of years ago, (on the Ruby Princess actually - her first visit to Australia!) and were at dinner with a table load of Americans.     We got the usual "We can drive from Sydney to Brisbane in 6 hours" and, "I need to get to the airport first thing to book a day return flight to Ayers Rock" etc.    I raised the issue of drop bears and produced my phone with the accompanying photo of a feral koala with blood drenched teeth and mangy fur and told them exactly the same thing Grap - don't drive with the sunroof open!

They sort of believed it I think, along with giving way to Kangaroos on George Street Sydney.   Strange people Americans....
