However, let's just stick to the facts: most failed the character test, but we have no idea at the moment how many are convicted criminals.

Moreover, Australian-born convicted criminals who have served their terms are being released into the community every day.

They have no valid claim to be in Australia - ie they are here illegally - , they are of bad character and they cannot be deported. So the HC says let them go free.

That's correct.

However, nobody in authority has stated that most of them are convicted criminals.

So, I'm wondering why some people are running with that lie.

Many of these scumbag illegals weren't simply
shoplifters or litterbugs, or speeding motorists.

A report to Home Affairs minister O'Neil showed
21 of them were referred to her for issues around
"national security, cybercrime, serious and high
profile organised/gang-related, and high-ranking
outlaw motorcycle gangs".

Another 27 were referred to Immigration minister
Giles for "very serious violent offences, very serious
crimes against children, very serious
family/domestic violence or violent, and sexual or
exploitative offences against women".

—Would you be happy to have one of these illegals
stay in your spare bedroom Greg? Or even
live next door to you? I'm betting not.

No. Not sure why you would ask me that.

From a previous post of mine: "Sure, they're still not the sort of people we want coming here and I'm glad that their asylum seeker applications were rejected."

Nobody wants these people here, but there's no reason to tell lies about them.

Why can't we just stick to the facts when we discuss these issues?

The laws weren't wrong, the high Court is simply enforcing those laws. Dutton was wrong in locking them up indefinitely, in doing so he made up his own laws. .

Courts don't "enforce" laws ... they interpret the law & make rulings.

And dopey ... Politicians "do make" laws.

Parliament makes laws ya dumbarse. Not individual politicians

"S" makes a word plural. dopey.

Who on earth sits in PARLIAMENT? ...

Btw any MP can raise a private members bill ...

some of them get passed into law by the other Policticians.

It was a rather silly question.

I've stated quite clearly that I don't want these people in our country, so why would I want them in my house?

It's typical though - whenever someone points out some uncomfortable facts, others immediately think you're defending the bad guys.

Again, all I'm doing is pointing out that some people are saying "most of them are criminals" when we actually have no idea how many are convicted criminals.

It might be 4, it might be 40, it might be 85, it might be 7. We just don't know at this stage.

The High Court essentially ruled that you can be free to walk around Australia if you don't have a visa and can't be deported either, for whatever reason.

All they need to rule now is to allow anyone to enter Australia, with or without a visa, or that a visa cannot be denied on character grounds if such a denial is a 'punishment' because only judges can mete out 'punishments'.
Then the stage is set for Australia to join Europe and North America in the open borders wheeze, thanks to judges, just like there, not allowing proper border controls. The Great Replacement will be done by 2050.
