The answer is 3 if you roll the circle along a straight line -
but not around a circle! - then it's 4.

That's correct

When you are driving your car and cut a corner, you will get around that corner quicker than the car behind that didn't cut the corner but is traveling at the same speed

Do you get it now?

he's the only one who knew the answer without watching the video.

LTYC didn't know.

BuyArse2012 has been going in circles and cutting corners all his life.

His last revolution brought him to a place where he was captured in Bobby's orbit. Bullsh!t is more powerful than gravity in Bobbyworld.

He is now bleating that his communication provider cut him off using the moron exclusion clause.

that is a mathematical question, not much to do with intuition

True.

Great find Bobby.

I'm too Politically (Language) minded to be Mathematical (it's competitor on an equal platform).

I did go for my 'intuitive' aspect straight away, rather than thinking about it mathematically and both 3 & 9 seemed to cancel each other out. Bowling middle-stump at 6 also didn't 'obviously' seem right either.
So I left it at that and clicked on the clip to find out where I went wrong or right??

Personally, I would have taken legal action against the Education Board for Mental Abuse!  Angry Cheesy

Not 'intuition' - simple mathematics at school which most of us have long forgotten since we do not use it...

It took the intuition of three students though, to speak up where hundreds of thousands 'failed' to notice what truly was at hand.

This is the hardest part of maths (or science/engineering) - trying to model a real problem as a mathematical one. At school we are taught to solve equations, but not to create them. We are taught to solve an equation, then spoon fed a problem to match it.

Or, you could just visualise it. Or draw it out.

You look at the locus of the centre of Circle A and the answer is obvious—the centre of circle A describes a circle around circle B. Radius of this circle is 3 + 1.

Listen poof -

when you move the first circle around the 2nd circle it automatically makes a rotation
as it rolls around - not just moves around.
that's what adds the extra rotation.   Roll Eyes

That is what I said you blithering booby! The centre of Circle A moves in a locus that is a circle with a radius the sum of radiusA + radiusB.

If you knew any math you would know I am right.
