Yoga may not 'fix' your ills. It's unlikely to worsen anything. Some medications do bring other problems.
If you get addicted to Yoga it is a good addiction.
If trying yoga for the first time, go very easy on yourself.
You can do it in a small lounge room with the TV off. Aim to do about 50% of what you think you can do.
It's not like normal western activities where the goal is to push yourself. That gives injuries.
Yoga is not about attaining all sorts of unusual postures.
Yoga is about doing what your body wants, how it wants to do it. Yoga is nourishing for yourself.
Try to keep a good posture (straight lower back), go slow, be mindful of your breathing, be totally unconcerned that you cannot touch your feet/knees/whatever.
If you are in a position and you like it, stay there
.
If you are in a pose you do not like, try another one
Your goal is to warm up, stretch, feel your body move and enjoy it.
Poses I like are Cat and cow poses, downward dog, child pose and extended child pose, lateral twist.
