Would you like to take the H2R to the end of its speedo?

I wouldn't have the guts -
the fastest I've been on a bike was on a race track and that was 200 km/hr -
that was enough for me -
I can't imagine 400 km/hr on an H2R   Shocked

I've done about 260.

I'd have a go on the H2R, but I'd want some coaching and a full sized runway, and it would probably take a lot of practice to get there.

Tell ya what Bob's, if I win the 90m lotto tonight I'll buy a pair of them and rent us a runway  Grin

Hi Gordon,
260 km/hr.  wow - that's when we were young and foolhardy - LOL

Thanks but I'd prefer to take a Ducati Panigale V4 R  for 20 laps
around Philip Island race track and then try a Yamaha YZF-R1M for another 20 laps.
I never rode a bike with top handling i.e
that could handle bumps in corners  etc.

I have a friend who claims to have ridden all the equivalents of the bikes in my reply #2
and he's also ridden many top Ducatis and even on a race track where it was
hired out for the day by a club -
how much fun would that be?

You'd be into that wouldn't you?

I reckon the real world differences between any of the top line Superbikes would be lost on the likes of us.

260 was in my younger days on a Fireblade at Eastern Creek.

Yes - also most riders would never lean a bike over as far as the Grand Prix riders do -
first they don't have the skill and second they don't want to risk a crash
where they'd have to pay for the bike.

Yes - very funny Geoff.

So - where did the superbike 1000cc 4 cylinder 4 strokes of today come from?
Their grandfather was the Z1 900 cc Kawasaki from the 1970s -
a marvel of engineering.
Many people don't like the modern bikes of today and would rather own a restored Z1 900.

This is the final of an 8 parts series about the restoration of one.
It looks brand new.

$117k and 241km/h cafe racer; 0-100km/h approx 2.7 seconds...

Arc Vector Electric motorcycle.

1983 GPZ 1100 did 2.5 sec 0-100 around 270 top speed.

105 kph in 1st gear. 60-80 kph in top gear 1.8 seconds

A 40 year old Kawasaki is quicker no carbon fibre or titanium in that old bike.

I did a few laps on GSXR 1000 around Eastern Creek modern bikes handle really well a huge improvement over old fashioned stuff. Went into turn 1 around 180-190 kph.
Engine modes tame it down with traction control anti wheelie etc pretty wild with it turned off.

You will never get the angles of lean a GP bike gets road tyres don't grip like racing slicks which only last 20-30 laps in a GP before they're worn out.

Look at the tyre wear people get most don't even get to the edge. Racers rip the edges off the tyres.

Look what even a 1986 500cc 2 stroke GP bike does:

A two-stroke Yamaha YZR500 makes about 190 horsepower.

I'm enjoying my Honda, but I'd like something a bit more nimble and asthetic.

Gordon - you have a nice bike:
2012 VT750.

...

The bikes I have mentioned are only usable on a racetrack.

I don't want a Superbike, that Guzzi would be nice.
