As synthetic opioid overdose deaths in the United States reach historic levels, some policy stakeholders
have sought U.S. action in designating fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction (WMD). Such calls have
also prompted congressional interest.

Others, including some Members of Congress, note the possible use of fentanyl as a weapon; in media
reports, observers have speculated that fentanyl’s increasing availability may prompt U.S. adversaries and
nonstate actors to weaponize the drug.
Governments have also recently committed to restricting the use of central nervous system-acting (CNS)
chemicals, including fentanyl, in law enforcement and other security operations.

Prince was 57 when he was found alone and unresponsive in an elevator at his Paisley Park estate on 21 April, 2016. Public data released six weeks after his death showed he died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid 50 times more powerful than heroin.

Search warrants released about a year after Prince’s death showed authorities found numerous pills in various containers around his home. A lab report shows many of the pills tested positive for fentanyl. Information released publicly indicates the source of those drugs has not been determined.

It's a deliberate policy of China to weaken America -

WASHINGTON — Almost seven out of every 10 U.S. troops are either overweight or obese, according to a new report, which also warns the growing trend could compromise military readiness and undermine national security.

The American Security Project, a Washington-based nonprofit organization that studies modern national security issues, conducted the study and found 68% of active-duty service members fall somewhere between overweight and obese on the body mass index, which is a long-used but controversial method of assessing a person’s body classification by height and weight. A person between 25 and 30 on the BMI is considered clinically overweight and more than 30 is considered obese, according to the National Institutes of Health.

“Rapid and sustained recurrence of obesity across all services, ranks and positions now poses a dire threat, especially for at-risk populations and those in critical combat roles,” the group’s report states. “Designing an effective strategy to monitor and tackle obesity within the U.S. military begins by treating it like any other chronic disease.”

The American Security Project underscored obesity is the leading disqualifier of military applicants and a “primary contributor to in-service injuries and medical discharges.” The group also said the number of troops in the “obese” category have more than doubled in the past decade — from 10.4% in 2012 to 21.6% last year.

“Identifying, diagnosing, and treating obesity within soldiers at the front lines of our national defense may ultimately determine the long-term survival of the force. It may not be easy, but it is long overdue.”

With a population of 342 million people, I tend to underestimate what the murder numbers should be in the United States, given that the murder rate in the USA is about 5 times that of Australia. But, I find it difficult to believe that drug users could easily get access to fentanyl for there to be overdoses of the drug.
