While it's true that subcontinental peoples are up to their necks in ethno-chauvinism in every form possible - ethnic, religious, caste, colour, tribal, clan, regional, economic... Africans are equally as ethno-chauvinistic in almost every way as subcontinentals are.

It's why Modi's nationalism of unity is an uphill slog. No easier for African leaders, who anyway prefer their own tribe over others.

The tendency towards ethno-chauvinism is innate everywhere.

Subcontinental migrants are remarkably tolerant of other peoples in their new homes and the least likely to engage in criminal violence, ethnic or otherwise.

Just don't attempt to marry into their families if you're not 'suitable'.

I agree. The caste system is the main obstacle that India has to overcome to become a fully developed country.

I agree. The caste system is the main obstacle that India has to overcome to become a fully developed country.

The caste system is the tip of the iceberg - and it is only the lowest of castes who bear the brunt of its malice.

Subcontinental social hierarchies are ancient and include ethnic, religious, colour, tribal, clan, regional and economic statuses that further splinter the elusive unity of all Bharat.

Many Indians are fairer than many Europeans.
I am of predominantly Irish, English and Scots descent yet in India I am often mistaken for an Indian until I speak.

Well, English itself is only about 600 years old - the earlier versions being Germanic.

It's true though that many languages in continental Europe are related to Indic languages, e.g. Latin and Greek - their mother language is known as Proto-Indo-European (PIE).

Yes, many Indians are as fair, and fairer, than many European ethnicities... And, don't they know it! They routinely discriminate against darker-skinned subcontinentals.

Not only are they racist but about the happiest and friendliest people you’ll ever encounter.
Also among the World’s cleanest in personal hygene, for all the crowding BO is not encounted.
The metropolitan railway im Mumbai not only has cars reserved for women but also ones reserved for disabled/elderly and clearly designated areas where they stop, so that getting aboard is no hastle.
