How long have you served in the Australian Army, UnSub? Anytime at all?  No, I didn't think so.  When you have some experience come back and talk to us.  You might be worth listening to then.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Come on Brian,
it's not as though you were ever in an actual war
and went over the top of the trenches and charged a machine gun nest.  Roll Eyes

Brian was an extra in "Gallipoli". I think he thinks that counts as military experience. And if he was in the army, he would have some understanding of what type of demeanour a recruit would need to have to serve in the armed forces. "Granny-killing psychopaths" would not qualify as good candidates. However, Julian Assange might be able to suggest they join the US Army and gun down some unarmed civilians.

Oh, dearie, dearie, me, something I did while on leave?  I spent 10 years in the Army, UnSub.  What were you doing?  Rooting around, being an alcoholic is all you've revealed here of what you did in life.  I spent 25+ years as an IT Technician, a Systems Engineer, a statistical programmer.  I am now retired on a disability pension.  I have three kids and a loving wife.  "Granny-killing psychopaths" are not welcome in the ADF and no, I am not one.  Nor are you, it seems.  The ADF wants well balanced, fit people as recruits.

Bobby, you'll never know, you'll never understand.  You can sit in your nice safe basement and dream all you like with your Commando comics.  Go and play with your toy soldiers and tanks.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...

dear brave Brian,
please share your combat experience with us.

What is yours, Bobby?  Any at all outside your basement,
with your Commando Comics and your toy soldiers and tanks?  No, I didn't think so.  Tsk,  tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I've been within 5 meters of a 50 cal machine gun firing off.
I had to walk a long way away as it felt like I was having a heart attack
from the compression waves.
Even though I had ear muffs on my ears were still ringing hours afterwards.
I would make a very bad soldier and I admit it.

You wouldn't make a soldier at all, Bobby.  Wow, 5 meters?  What a man.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

It was the loudest thing I've ever heard.
The compression waves went right through my chest like a sledge hammer.
I don't know how anyone can fire those guns for minutes at a time.
Some army guys seem to enjoy it.
Ever fired a 50 cal yourself or were you always in the office?

No - I have seen top fuel drag racing - back in the 1980s -
that was also super loud.

I never personally fired a .50cal anywhere, Bobby.  I was rarely if ever "in the office".  I was always assigned to Field Force units and often in the field performing duties there.  Where were you, Bobby?  In your basement with your Commando comics and your toy soldiers? I didn't think you would have fired a 50 cal.

I was at Puckapunyal - where the real soldiers are.

Which you weren't, hey, Bobby?  What was it, "play at being a digger for a day"?

Oh, dearie, dearie, me.  Did you enjoy your time near a .50cal?  The biggest weapon I ever fired was an 84mm Recoilless Rifle, a Charliegutsache.  It went off with bang.  I have also M72 rocket launchers and 81mm Mortars, along with assorted small arms such as machine guns, rifles and SMGs.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

You have never served a day in a Baggy Green Skin.  You have never done a military exercise.  You have never served with other Diggers.  You have never eaten a military Ration.  You have never fire a Machine Gun, you have never fired a Military Rifle or an SMG or any military weapon. You have never lifted a beer with your mates who were fellow Diggers.  Unsub you still feel you can comment about the members of the ADF?  Really?  And on what experience do you think you can comment?  Time to grow up.  Time to wake up.  You have zero knowledge about the Australian Army yet you think you can comment.  Sorry to be brutal but the facts of life eventually intrude on your fantasies.  Run along, back to your cosy little room in your cosy little house in your cosy little town, in your cosy little state, that is protected by people like myself and others who serve in the Australian Army to protect you and all Australians.  I get fed up with silly little people like you who just like to criticise others without any experience.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

According to your profile, you are 63 years old. Therefore, according to your own rules, you no longer have any authority to make comment about the ADF, given that you would be compulsorily retired from the army by now. Unless, of course, Gnads is right about you being a pen pusher in the army. Therefore, you would have little to mention about the army and being one to protect the country.

No, I have never been in a military exercise. I have been in a war zone. I have been overseas in the capacity as a civilian. I have shot targets using a .303. I have used a handgun (police issue). And I was given use of an automatic weapon. Oh, and I have fired one single round from an artillery. I remember going "Whoooah!" as it launched. The guy assisting me just went "Yeah, c'mon let's go again", but I was done by then. I have been in a helicopter. I have also been in a submarine. The only thing I have not done is take a ride in a fighter jet. But combat experience is not the issue here.

What is the issue here is the idea that you cannot fathom the idea that criminal refugees would NOT make good soldiers. Sure, one of them has adequate granny-killing abilities. But the reality is that their psychopathic mindset would derail any chance that they have of being a positive contribution to the army. And there would be a likelihood that given a weapon, you might see a real mess of other soldiers losing their lives to the nutbag whom would have been waiting the opportunity to get a weapon.

Trying to shut me down simply by saying that I have not been in the ADF and therefore makes my opinion invalid is a nonsense. I have probably done more combat experience than you, outside of the army. In actual reality, my life experience has probably shown that I have done more to keep you and your army buddies safe than vice versa.

OK, lets go back to the beginning.  Gnads said that all members of the ADF were, "soft cocks" and would not go overseas if required to and Africans make poor soldiers.  I then suggested he was talking out of his arse.  You then suggested he was correct that the ADF was full of "soft cocks".  I then asked on what basis you made such a comment as you do not have any experience on which to base it.  Now, either you are wrong or I am wrong and all my experience flies out the window.  Right? I would suggest that you are wrong, badly.  Now, either shut up and stop talking bullshit or better yet, apologise.  It would make you more of a man than that fool, Gnads.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I was going to list off several things that I have done to keep the community, state and country safe. But that might leave me exposed to identification. I have done enough off-the-record stuff that has kept the town safer than it would have been, that I don't have to mention. I have probably pissed off a few drug dealers that had to leave town. And I know that I am not welcome at a nightclub. However, 3 people are now alive that would not have been, if I had not intervened. Everything else I have done for the country, it becomes difficult to divulge any information without getting into confidentiality issues. Needless to say, I have worked more average hours between the ages of 18 and 34 than I have averaged between the ages 34 and now.

Oh yeah, I have spent the last 3 years drinking at rates that an alcoholic would do. But, at least drinking is a legal activity. Unlike stabbing a granny for her car. You are retired at 63 years of age on a disability pension. That would explain the time you have to write 6 posts a day for the last so many years. But a disability pension? What the hell did you do before then? Sit at a desk doing admin work?

I had a hard time trying to locate Gnad's quote about the "soft cocks" in the army. But, he did not say that all members of the ADF were "soft cocks". Without reacquiring the quote, I recall him say that he knew of people in the military that were willing to chuck it in. To hell with it, I will look it up:

Gnads wrote on Mar 5th, 2024 at 12:05pm:
Grin Surely you jest? They would not put their lives on the line for this country.

We have enough career softcocks in the ADF now who I'd say would want to chuck it if they had to fight or go overseas to fight.

Gnads responded to bias about him probably joking about putting African refugees in the military. Gnads said that there were enough career softcocks in the ADF now who would want to quit if they had to fight or go overseas to fight. If that is the attitude of some in the ADF that had volunteered to join the ADF, imagine how recalcitrant criminal African refugee would be if they were forced to join the ADF. Gnads suggests that the volunteer recruits would be reluctant enough to quit the ADF. I suggest that comparatively, the criminal African refugees would likely take their chances with an immediate dishonourable discharge or whatever happens to an involuntary recruit. Probably back to gaol.

My first response after you called Gnads foolish, was to say that you might find an exception to the rule about all import Africans not willing to join the ADF. I sardonically implied that you have a tendency to see these exceptions to the rule as a means to defend the criminal element of their demographic. I hope that makes things clearer. AT NO STAGE did I suggest that the ADF recruits are all a bunch of softcocks. That was what you have suggested, in a misrepresentation of what was written by your opponent.

Then, as a last ditch attempt to save face, you try the anecdotal fallacy argument to say that because you were in the military and I was not, my argument about not allowing criminal African refugees into the military is null and void. HOW FRICKIN' INSANE ARE YOU??? My opinion on the matter of not putting convicted felons into the army for the sake of rehabilitation has as much right to be heard as yours. The only argumental difference between us is that you think it is a good idea to have convicted felons in the army. Or say otherwise, given that your petulance to call Gnads a "fool" seems to suggest you disagree with what he said.
