Wanted to delete this post. But there doesn't appear to be a delete option?
Why? The issues need to be debated.
BTW I agree with Goldsworthy; but I disagree with your refusal to consider welfare dependency/homelessness/family dysfunction as a factor in crime. (Apparently homlessness in Qld is the worst in Oz, and that's saying something......).
I didn't want to delete the orginal post - just the duplicate.
And I have considered all those points you make. I understand it's extremely difficult for people from other cultures to assimilate. But we're not a melting pot - no matter how much the social engineers try to make that so.
At the end of the day it's down to
personal responsibility. Things might not be going your way - you might not have everything you want in life - but you don't have to violently murder a 70 year old grandmother to steal her car in front of a six year old child.
I wonder if "personal responsiblity" is what Trmp had in mind when he said (during the 2016 campaign, re inner- city blacks in the US):
"You are living in poverty, your neighbourhoods are like war zones, your young men are in prison...."
Trump didn't say if "personal responsibility" by blacks would fix their situation. Nevertheless, poverty and crime are associated; and the state can intervene to reduce poverty.
Indeed not! He pointed the finger squarely at their personal responsibility in things being as they are ... and taking personal responsibility for making things better. It's all implicit in the statement
Wrong; Trump merely stated the reality of life in poverty ghettos,
without considering causation, personal responsibility and/or otherwise. Your "personal responsibility" mantra has blinded you to what Trunp actually said, ie merely a description of life in poverty ghettos.
Trump was trying to win votes from Dem voters who normally look to the government to reduce poverty: "We are the party of the disadvantaged" said Hillary.
Trump was trying to win votes by pointing out the Dems' failure to eradicate poverty...without Trump stating the causes of poverty, and what HE intended to do about it.
Quote:- like so many other things you go on and on about as if only you accept or know them - they are so obvious nobody bothers to go into fine detail about them.
I can certainly see why you don't want to explore your delusional concept of 'non-self-interested' individuals....
Quote:i.e. "refusal to consider welfare dependency/homelessness/family dysfunction as a factor in crime." An utterly nonsensical statement from you...EVERYONE accepts that those things are possible factors in crime - they just can't be bothered chanting about it every time they discuss crime.
1. So everyone accepts it, but just don't want to consider how to fix it?
2. why don't you want to fix it, rather than just expressing outrage with crime?
Note: understanding causes is much harder than merely asserting "personal responsibility", but nevertheless the causes have to fully understood before the problem can be fixed.
Quote:Let's hear the comeback this time.... the discussion is CRIME - not its causes.... that' your problem for another strand.
So....you jump up and down about personal responsibility, and then what?.....
Quote:Now how do YOU propose to stop Africans stabbing grannies etc? I don't bother with you much... but jeez, you're dumb!!
1. increase penalties for attacks on persons.
2. increase policies to reduce family dysfunction.
