why are you equating china and japan they're at completely different developmental levels right now

refugees would absolutely go to japan if they could, probably a small number would go to china too if they had no other option (even india used to get illegal migration from bangladesh, and india is way worse to live in than china)

There are those who create a problem for their country and there are those who just don't want to face it and flee from it.
Two wrongs not making a right.

There is no reason why any nation can't make itself to a standard that negates both and gives people a reason to stay and help it grow.

But despite a minority of self-indulgent rulers exploiting the country, mass-over-population is just as wrong. If you can't afford children (child abuse), don't have them. Catering to 'reffos' and mass migration as an excuse is wrong.

Note: even regular (less-well-off) ozzies are experiencing a cost of living crisis in Oz - the same in the entire Western world - made all the more difficult if you arrive in the country with nothing.
