As English is taught as a subject in Indian schools, India has more English speakers than England or Australia, so no one is going to hire people who are not able to speak the language chosen.

I travel extensively in India and am off for my 10th trip on the 29th of this month [I thought it is the 7th but the wife got the passports out and it is the 10th]
Everywhere I’ve been English has been spoken, sometimes quaint and archaic with a propensity to use the verb ‘to be’ in ways that are strange but nevertheless correct.
Commonly referred to as Indglish.
French is also widely spoken and in tiny Goa, Portuguese will give you social standing.
