In such a case, showing discipline would be to be aware of your surroundings first up, then not let yourself be confronted suddenly, but to surveil what is up ahead and quickly assess your position if something doesn't look quite right. If you see black Africans in the vicinity of your car, and judging that they may not have yet been de-alienated, divert away between parked cars, get distance between you and your car and wait for them to move on...
LOL...
I know you've been pushing this sort of defensive action in several
of your comments here Bias, but you're grossly underestimating the
actual gravity of the crime. Firstly of course is that you've failed to
acknowledge that the victim was a 70-year-old female. Secondly this
occurred in an underground car park, where her vehicle was relatively
isolated from public view.
Thirdly, of course, is that you were not there, and have no knowledge
of the attack itself in order to comment with any authority. Your comments
are the all-too-easy ones of a typical keyboard warrior, wise after the event,
but ignorant of its mechanics.
And I have to question your thinly-disguised racism: Any time you see
a group of Africans in the street, do you immediately take evasive
action or "divert away"? How would you prejudge them as having criminal
intent exactly? Is it solely because they're black, rather than white skinned?
Would you have the same smug dismissive attitude had
this been
your 70-year-old grandmother? I'm betting not.
Victim blaming is nonsensical.
