Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

That's an odd one. The SA government is trying to eradicate feral deer by 2032. Seems like a naive goal. Meanwhile the hunters are complaining because they want the deer to hunt. The farmers are supportive of the eradication effort because the deer compete with cows.

Quote:
To eradicate feral deer by 2032, at least 34% of the population of fallow deer must be culled each year to avoid population increase.

Sounds like bureaucratic double-speek to me.

So selfish Hunters want their 'toy sport' Deers kept alive, feral and fun to have around.

While Farmers, Greenies and everyone else want them eradicated entirely because of the long list of 'negative impacts' they have on everything.

Shouldn't the Hunters be better shots and at least get the Rabbits and Foxes for starters? What about the Pigs, Camels and other feral invasive species out there to hunt?

I think these Hunters need to be culled.

As an avid hunter I believe that deer should be eradicated along with other environment damaging introduced species.
Mind you I rate venison as slightly more tasty than kangaroo, but there’s not much to choose between them.

True. Venison and Roo are much alike, though Venison is more accepted in Restaurants with a European snob tag on it.
Great meat. But I'm sure some big time Hunter will be able to afford having them on his huge Property, properly kept in check for Hunters to enjoy killing them from a safe distance.
Of course not!
Time and again, Hunters have hit such properties - allowing the Deer to escape so they can have something to play with besides shooting just rabbits and foxes or pigs. Shooting feral dogs and cats just doesn't excite Hunters enough to help the whole eco-system out. They want 'Deer'!

Deer hunters have called for a halt to the South Australian government's aerial culling program amid concerns about landowners' rights, animal cruelty, and pollution caused by the bullets used to shoot the feral animal.

Utter bullshit. The hunters aren't concerned about any of these things. They don't want eradication because  they want a breeding population left so they can continue to hunt.
