Start with Vlad putting Tucker in his place in the beginning. He wasn't sure if he'd been invited to do a serious interview or come on some talk show, you see.

That one cracks Tucker up, but he manages to pull himself together.

I saw the first 20 minutes.

It's 2 hours 7 minutes long.    Roll Eyes

Watch the discussion from 1.41 on, with Tucker trying to unpack Putin's religion.

Vlad dismisses any personal faith whatsoever. For him, Russian Orthodoxy is all about history, nationhood, traditional values. Vlad even distracts by saying how inclusive Russia is of all religions, but religion ultimately - for a bureaucrat like Vlad - comes down to "the law".

For Tucker, an American evangelical, and Vlad, a KGB-trained assasin, there's no come-to-Jesus moment there. Tucker does everything he can to squeeze a drop of humanity out of Vlad and fails.

He knows he's failed. That's what his apologetic intro is all about.

Tucker went in to give Vlad an opportunity to redeem himself, and Vlad can't help himself. He comes out looking like a complete cunt.

Not a good look for Tucker, eh?

Silly bollocks.

Interesting times. Stalin trusted Hitler but didn't trust Churchill/Roosevelt. Putin was sure Ukraine didn't trust Zelensky.
Putin accepts Trump's vote but not the Russians'.

Dictators often are, dear. That doesn't make them any less worth watching.

Saddam, Gaddafi, Marcos - all exceptionally boring. What makes them interesting is their idiotic excuses and their insatiable capacity for butthurt victimhood.

Besides, given Vlad's your guy, I believe you have a duty to watch every last minute. If you're going to promote that narrative, you need, at the very least, to get your head around it.

It's definitely worth knowing how Vlad excuses his decision to invade a population of 43 million people and kill so many Russians. You should watch this with the knowledge that we provably won't get any Nuremberg trials of Vlad.

This is the closest we get to looking into the mind of the biggest killer of the 21st century. Tucker's initial instinct was a giggle.

You?

hitler, mussolini and lee kwan yew definitely were not boring

nor was gaddafi or idi amin

or saddam hussein for that matter?

this is a guy who literally had a copy of the quran made for him written in somebody's blood: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_Quran

i don't think that's very boring at all

in fact, i think it is reasonable to say that dictators are usually more interesting than the average person

putin is not especially interesting by the standards of most dictators, but is probably more interesting than the average australian going on about sportsball, their investment property and their pet dog

the interview was pretty boring though

russia is more likely than not going to 'win' in ukraine lol, just saying so doesn't make vlad "my guy"

maybe if we were all so concerned about death tolls we'd just stop endlessly arming ukraine and let them organically collapse as they would have roughly around the time of the capture of the severodonetsk-lysychansk conurbation in july 2022 - the result is going to more likely than not be the same eitherway, just with a lot more deaths (more ukrainian than russian, at a probable ratio of about 1.5-2.5 to 1) in the final outcome

ukr's population is prob sub 29m~ at this  point btw

I'm going off Gaddafi, Saddam and Marcos' 60 Minutes interviews, dear. Bor-ring.

And that's okay. They're military leaders. Vlad's KGB. They're not politicians, they control by force.

Ultimately, Vlad's audience here is his own population. Vlad is speaking to Russians, not the West. That's what all that boring history us all about. Apparently there's a rigged election coming up.

That's why Tucker's pushing the line that the special operation in Ukraine could be stopped right here right now by "the West". It's complete bulkshit, and the most evil part of this propaganda. Tucker is there to push this line.

In reality, the Ukraine war is an act of aggression by Russia on its closest and dearest neighbour. The West can't stop Ukrainians fighting to defend their country, and never will. Tucker is ultimately saying that Vlad should go to Washington to discuss the annexation of Ukraine, the assassination of Zalensky and capitulation to the biggest threat to Europe since your more interesting European dictators in WWII.

Vlad, on the other hand, is there to show his domestic audience how he deals with American gigglers like Tucker.

I think this is very valuable to hear Putin directly, at length, on many subjects.
What he says about neo Nazis, history, American hubris, are a well worth hearing and critically evaluating, rather than rejecting unheard, inconsiderate.

He says it all started with a coup in Ukraine in 2014. I can't say I have the knowledge ( or perhaps even the interest) in the details of Eastern European post-Soviet political intricacies. I don't think the Ukrainians are really that different to the Russians, certainly not historically. I can see his points - makes them a few times in different ways - that the Ukrainians have been sucked into this conflict with not a little push and shove ("help") from the US, NATO and the EU. Whatever happened in 2014, Russia certainly wasn't interested in military annexation of  part of Ukraine before it. As he said, they were well integrated (ie Ukraine was in Russia's sphere of influence).

As he also said, quite rightly, doesn't America have bigger issues like the border, debt etc to deal with than finance a proxi war in Eastern Europe?

Vlad invaded Ukraine when they were finally given the chance to elect a popular candidate and not a Russian puppet. This interview is interesting from the point of view of propaganda only, dear boy. Vlad is spruiking fake news.

His talk about Nazis is Danish bollocks and a complete red herring. This is a Russian bogeyman going back to WWII. Ukrainians joined Nazi death squads to keep the Soviets out - just so. The Soviets paid them back good and proper too.

Ukraine is not engaging in a "civil war". Over 70% voted for Zalensky and European reorientation. This support has increased to around 98% since Vlad's invasion and subsequent Russian war crimes. Russians are united now by one thing: Vlad.

Ukraine had no previous plans to join NATO - even Vlad admits that. They do now though. Sweden and Finland are all-in now too.

Putin invaded Ukraine to prevent the spread of democracy. Vlad's right - Ukraine was inextricably interrelated with Russia - family, work, economic ties. People crossed the border to work and trade. When they chose to become a Western-leaning democracy, Ukrainians presented an existential political threat to Vlad's regime, a top-down kleptocracy with rigged elections where only Vlad decides who runs. Anyone who speaks up is promptly jailed, poisoned, run over or has their plane with all passengers blown up.

You can track Vlad's lies and broken deals in close to real time. Before Vlad assassinated him, Prigozhin let the cat out of the bag. All those Russian "civilians" fighting the Ukrainian Nazis in 2014?

Russian soldiers, as every schoolboy knows. All the butthurt victimhood Vlad's complaining about here has been totally debunked. So cute. So Vlad has never had any intentions to invade Poland or any other meanie Western countries? He really means that, swears by God, so sincere?

He said that before he invaded Moldova, Georgia and the day before he sent the tanks into Ukraine.

If you're into interesting alternative facts, dear boy, keep watching Tucker.

Most valuable.

I know. Vlad left that part out of his historical dissertation. But Ukraine conspired with Hitler?

How devious and diabolical. Good thing he didn't mention Hitler and Stalin's little non-aggression pact where they split Poland down the middle and had a gay old time, no?

Next thing we'll find Poland rewritten as a fake country Vlad has no plans to invade, oh no, never ever.

Don't mention the war, Vlad. You might have mentioned it once, but Tucker let you get away with it.

Did Tucker mention Putin's greed?

Russia is the largest country in the world yet Putin is
prepared to start WW3 and destroy the whole world to
get a little bit more territory in Ukraine.
How greedy can anyone get?

Putin is an arsehole who doesn't care about
the half a million Ukrainians he's murdered or
the half a million Russians who have lost their lives
over his insane war that he started.

Big literary scandal but historically accurate. Ukraine WAS full of Nazis, the SS was full of Ukrainians, Lithuanians, Estonians.

You bozos want to simplify. But none of it is simple. Putin and Russia is not wholly wrong and Bidden and NATO wholly right.

What was that coup and third round of election in Ukraine demanded by Obama in 2014?

Russia may be wrong but they are not without their own reasons. Those reasons are worth hearing and considering. Grimacing Paki crap about Tucker is a shite reason not to hear Putin. Only an idiot like you would advocate for NOT hearing the other side of ANY story.

Stalin, too, was priestly and KGB, not a general. He lost chunks of army and airforce by incompetent meddling in 1941. Vlad's tanks and jets are missing in action, presumed dead. Yet Josef won and Vlad may also, thanks to all those Siberian boys in the snow.

Not really, Bobby. Vlad said it wasn't about greed, but getting rid of all those Ukrainian Nazis.

I agree. I know Mr Trump said this is about real estate, but I'm with Vlad. Democratically elected Nazis like Zalensky are a real downer.

Vlad gets to control all his other neighbours' elections. Why do Ukrainians have to be so difficult?

Make sure to watch the end. When Vlad completes his history lecture with the conclusion that he's only in Ukraine (a Russian state) to keep the peace between all those warring fellow Russians, Tucker is speechless.

What do you say to propaganda like that?

Nothing. Vlad asks Tucker if he has any further questions and thanks Tucker for his time.

Fox News this aint. Tucker let's Vlad continue with a 40 minute monologue on Russian medieval history.

Note the sly reference to Tucker's attempt to join the CIA (he was rejected for disclosing experimental drug use). Vlad always comes prepared with a trick to make his guests squirm.

Despite Vlad's congratulatory backslap when they finished (Tucker's teeth nearly came out), he's been cautiously monitoring for novichok symptoms, just in case.

Ever get the feeling you've been fingered?
