A strong swing towards the Libbos at the Mt Eliza suburb.  6%.

that is a lot

latest:

Labor still has its nose in front owing to Greens preferences.

The Greens don't determine the preferences, Bobby - the voters' do.

After all these years, you still don't understand the preferential voting system.

FFS   Roll Eyes

I do understand it -

those who voted for the queer Greens have helped Labor.

Not really.  No one nation, Clive or any of the other right wing nutters to split the vote, those votes were always going to go lib.

Hey Goober,  labors primary vote went UP. Green just agreed with me in that libs primary vote rise is about the same as the votes that went to one nation and Clives party last election.

Despite all the cost of living issues,  and despite by elections traditionally going against sitting govts, the right have gained NOTHING with this by election

One of the reasons the people of dunkly voted for him tonight is BECAUSE he's dancing around at the Mardi grass.

Despite what you see on this forum,  which is largely bigots and racists being triggered every time someone from a minority group does or says something,  most Aussies are very understanding of minority groups.

By the way Goober,  if he gets anywhere near your float tonight,  tell him I said hi. Grin

Labor's Jodie Belyea wins by-election in the federal seat of Dunkley

The Labor Party is projected to hold onto the federal seat of Dunkley in Melbourne's bayside south-east.

The ABC's Antony Green has said Jodie Belyea will be the next member for Dunkley.

She fills the vacancy caused by the death of former MP Peta Murphy in December.

There has been a swing against Labor, with support for the Liberal Party growing across Dunkley, but it will not be enough to see the seat change hands.

Heading into the by-election, Labor held the seat by 6.3 per cent margin. Voting results so far show a swing to the Liberal Party of around three per cent.

"This was always going to be a tough ask," Liberal senator Jane Hume has told the party faithful.

Liberal candidate Nathan Conroy was in high spirits despite the loss, having received some good news moments before getting on stage to address the crowd.

"Just before I came up on stage my wife whispered in my ear that we are having our second child," he said.

"To be honest I don't know when I got the time to do it but I did it."
